As a player getting to appear on the desk, I feel it’s necessary I make this tweet. I’ve seen a lot of criticism and quite frankly a lot of insults being cast the way of the desk and casters. I’ve seen it from viewers and I’ve seen it from players. Yet each and every event, they choose to ignore it and continue to put on a show for you. What you see on screen is a blimp of the reality that is their job. The casters spend days and weeks (of their own time) studying and taking notes about teams to create storylines and development. They feed those stories into the broadcast and give you context that without them simply wouldn’t exist. They practice their casting constantly and learn ways to seamlessly transition between fights, topics, and desk segments. All the meanwhile they have control over NOTHING. They’re the absolute legends of covering hours of dead time with no notice when unfortunate tech issues take place. They’re casting over gameplay that’s being controlled by other observers. They’re constantly improving everything they can to make the broadcast better and they’re ALWAYS on the frontline and receiving end of any and all hate. They work harder than any of the players do. Have some respect. The casters make the show. We’re very lucky to have the team that we do. They’re incredible. I am honored to have been on the desk with them.
