Fathers are the backbones that hold families together. On this Mashujaa Day, I pay tribute to my father, Domnic Owino, and Baba Raila Amollo Odinga. Two fathers who shaped my life in different ways.
To my dad, Domnic Owino.
You left us when I was in Class Three. I remember how hard you worked to provide for us and how well you took care of our family. You gave us your best and left us with memories I will always cherish.
Growing up without you was not easy, but God has been faithful to us. Dad, I wish you were here to see the person I have become. I wish I could sit with you again and tell you how far we have come. Today, I celebrate the man you were and the love you gave us. Wewe ni shujaa wangu.
To Baba Raila Amollo Odinga.
It has been a year since we lost you, yet your absence is still deeply felt.
You allowed me to serve under you and became more than a leader. You became a father, a mentor and an advisor. You were someone I could always turn to for guidance.
Thank you for believing in young people like me and allowing us to learn from your leadership. Your contribution to our country's political journey will never be forgotten. Many of us are now walking in the footsteps you left behind, carrying forward the ideals you stood for.
Baba, we miss you. Your legacy lives on in the people you mentored and the generations you inspired. Wewe ni shujaa wangu.
To all fathers who sacrifice daily for their families and those whose memories live on in our hearts, we celebrate you today.

One thing we rarely appreciate Raila for is building a formidable institution called ODM. The ODM Secretariat in Nairobi is the only institution you will hardly hear of anyone resigning from.

Power abhors a vaccum. Had ODM waited, two people would have declared themselves as party leader and rendered the party dysfunctional.
They thought ODM leaders would attend but they didn't and their plans fell through.
