Jailbroken PlayStation 5 is now able to run PS3 games straight from disc🚀
This comes after modders managed to get PS2 games to work, and they aim to make PS5 one console that runs all past PlayStation generations.

This goes to show that Sony could’ve always given us full backwards compatibility, and they chose not to, so they can sell you remastered or digital versions or tie you to PS+ subscriptions.
It’s also impressive to see how fast all this has been evolving. Modding, emulation and jailbreak has existed for so long, but this sudden big evolution… man Sony pissed off an entire generation or gamers that they’re basically cracking everything😅

Keep fighting. We need to win physical and digital ownership

Friendly reminder that we all have to keep voicing our concerns about a digital-only future without ownership and proper customer protection law under EVERY post from PlayStation. Just because they want to play deaf doesn't mean we should go silent. Make a stand now or never!

Video game studios, first and third party, must organize a statement or a walkout to show their support to physical game media🚀
The whole “it’s our of our hands” approach is complacency and sends the wrong message. You need to be loud.
Ending physical media might earn you more profits on the short run, but it will cost you brand loyalty which brings in more money and goodwill from players on the longer run.
Make your stance clear. Support physical media because it’s physical media is more than just an item in a box. Physical media is:
✅Ownership
✅Preservation to video games
✅Region-free gaming
✅More options to players
✅Collector’s market
✅Little to no reliance on internet/accounts
In addition to that, it is in the best interest to allow players to access games in competitive prices, because with the ballooning prices for consoles and games, many players will simply refuse to buy something, when prices remain high, or wait for it to become part of a subscription service many months later to get it.
Meanwhile, having a cheaper priced alternative will encourage players to buy more games, and easily get into the “ecosystem” of the game and its respective console.
Defend physical games
Defend player’s rights
Defeat the raging desire to please only investors at the expense of player trust
Speak out. Walk out.
Stand by your customers because they will go a long way in trust and respect

RUMOR: Sony is said to have sent out a survey to developers asking them about how they feel regarding ending physical media, suggesting they are considering backtracking on the decision🚀
“There is a survey Sony sent out to developers that is, what I was told by my contacts, a bigger survey than they’ve sent almost ever before.
There was a question in it trying to ask in a not-direct way: Is there an issue with not selling games physically, asking developers for feedback on killing discs.
Wolverine is still selling plenty of physical copies and Sony is starting to ask devs if they are worried about killing physical, suggesting that if they got a bunch of feedback, maybe they would consider some sort of mea culpa.”
WE NEED TO KEEP THE PRESSURE!
BE LOUD 💪🏼 BE PERSISTENT

This picture of Shuhei Yoshida and Adam Boyes from Tokyo Game Show is making the rounds. Seemingly mocking current anti-consumer PlayStation for killing the philosophy behind their once famous pro-consumer mockery of Xbox regarding physical game sharing.

Friendly reminder to continue voicing your displeasure over Sony's plans.
Write critical, civilized comments.
Boycott their services (PSN, PS Store, PS+, PS App, etc.).
Get your local politicians and customer rights agencies involved.
Educate about the downsides of all-digital!

A number of Blu-ray-related patents for Sony will be expiring between 2026 and 2031, ending their ability to collect royalties on physical movie and video game discs🚀
This means audiences will be forced to rely exclusively on streaming platforms, if physical media is entirely phased out.
Blu-Rays and UHD Blu-Rays have a noticeably superior quality compared to digital/streaming counter parts, as the latter suffers lower video and audio quality due to higher compression.
So once again, this isn’t about nostalgia, this is about Sony taking away:
❌Quality
❌Ownership
❌Competitive pricing
❌Preservation
Sony has recently removed 500 movies from users’ purchases list without compensation.
They are actively ruining our gaming and viewing experiences, while masquerading it as “the future”, and we MUST NOT BE SILENT.
We speak out, seek the law, and vote on laws that prevent a single company from destroying art and entertainment, due to the greed of their CEOs and shareholders.

So basically, Kojima didn’t allow Sony executives to bully him into pushing out an unfinished product like every other spineless dev company and they tried to crucify him for it.
You don’t hate PlayStation enough.
Bloomberg reports on why PlayStation ended its partnership with Hideo Kojima for Physint:
- Game was missing deadlines
- Development was 'well over budget' despite being years from release
- Death Stranding 1 & 2 performance missed revenue targets
- PlayStation wasn't happy that they couldn't keep the games exclusive
- Sony executives who were close to Kojima left the company a while ago

Still thinking about how Kaz Hirai, former chairman, CEO and president of Sony bowed down to apologize for the 24 day PlayStation security breach/blackout in 2011🚀
On the other hand, Sony CFO Lin Tao took 30 days to vaguely respond to a Q&A showing zero remorse and citing “strong reactions” but goes on to say that they will “proceed carefully” which is more of an insult than an acknowledgement.
Furthermore, their lawyers proceeded to belittle players who ever expected a digital purchase (which costs as much as physical one) to be owned by them, citing a laughable argument.
Whatever good will people had for Sony for the past 2 generations is because of their attitudes and output during PS1-PS3 eras, all of which started to dissipate over time under Jim Ryan, and now under Hulst and Nishino.
It’s disgraceful to see a company destroy its reputation that fast and this intentionally, and over what? Greed? When they’re already at the top of the game and making more money than ever.
Stop supporting people who hate you and see you as nothing more numbers, and stop allowing them to demand more from you when they don’t even want you to own the games you purchase from them.
Speak out and vote with your voices and wallets, and don’t let the dystopian digital-only future happen, because digital gamers will be disadvantaged just as much due to:
❌Monopoly
❌Higher prices
❌Being tied to an account
❌Region locked codes in boxes
❌Reliance on internet/networks
❌No ownership
❌No second hand market or trading
Players have had enough paying more for less, and Sony wasted a whole generation rabidly trying to fulfill theur greed over anything else.
