You were my sunshine, quite literally. You brought warmth to my coldest days and light to places in me I never knew were dark.
But somehow, you took that light with you when you left, and now everything feels gloomy. The days come and go, and all I seem to do is count them, waiting for a feeling I can no longer find.
They say, “Create your own happiness.” And I wish it were that simple. I wish I could teach my heart to find joy in other things, to smile without pretending, to feel whole without you.
But how do I create a happiness that already had a face, a voice, a name?
How do I convince my heart to look elsewhere when, for the longest time, you were the happiness it knew?
So here I am, learning to live in a world that still turns, even though mine seems to have stood still.
And perhaps, one day, the sun will find its way back to me.
But for now, I miss my sunshine.
