Please be safe out there. ALWAYS assume a downed power line is live. Stay at least 20 feet away. Don't touch anything it comes in contact with. Until you're sure there are no downed lines around you, delay cleanup of downed branches, because power lines can blend in with them.
Lt. Ethan Quillen was a hero who selflessly put himself in harm’s way — answering his community’s call. My heart is with the Quillen family and Paw Paw Volunteer Fire Department.

If you have tree branches down from the ice storm in your yard or in the street, wait to clean them up! There are lots of power lines down right now, and there’s a chance they might be electrified if they’re touching a wire. Stay inside and stay safe!

It’s true. Linemen and other power company workers are among the most important first responders after a storm.
I’ve always said we’ve never given enough credit to our ironworkers, carpenters, and all tradesmen who were there alongside firefighters and police officers on 9/11.

There are still a large number of wires down after yesterday’s storms. Any downed wire should be considered live and dangerous (and that includes anything they may be in contact with). Stay safe - and stay at least 20 feet away.
