I hope the next Sonic game offers a certain level of freedom and experimentation while still not allowing you to skip massive chunks of level by pressing a single button
That jump across the ocean would be a lot more cool if it was actually hard to pull off

If it’s just the same game will all the DLC Updates already baked in I’ll be so disappointed

This tweet very specially says “mainline” Sonic game
I agree, Shadow Generations is fantastic, top 10 favourites, easily, but it is a companion piece to a remaster, it’s not a “mainline” game despite how great it is
I agree though, if Sonic Team take the quality of Shadow Gens and apply it to a mainline game (one longer than 3 hours) then I have no doubts it’ll be amazing
If the next mainline Sonic game really isn’t coming out until 2027 then we really don’t have any excuse for another “step in the right direction”
We used to get mediocre games yearly, I really don’t think I can handle waiting 5 years between em unless they’re worth it
It’s an Anniversary so it’s 100% justified but I think this is the last year I can deal with Sonic looking back so much, at least until the 40th
It’s not as impactful to have these look backs when every Sonic game indulges in the past so much with locales/dialogue
In 2026, we’re celebrating 35 years of speed, friendship, adventures, and being Forever Fast.
Here’s to the next level!

Sonic 35th Anniversary
I predicted exactly this in my last video and everyone got mad at me for claiming SEGA had too high of expectations
By the way, at Sega's financial results briefing, while everyone wasn't talking about it, they gave more detailed verbal comments about Sonic that weren't in the materials—do you know about that?
Sonic Racing is selling, but Sega seems to have had overly high expectations, and the initial sales fell short of that. For Rumble, they anticipated growing the player base while keeping monetization light, even designing the game system that way... but surprisingly, the actual reactions and behavior were the complete opposite, which was unexpected.
Honestly, Sonic Racing looks like one of those recent Sonic titles that sells gradually over time, so its future is hard to predict.
