Here’s a gem from Colm Mackin's episode that hit hard. When you’re building something, don’t try to figure it all out on your own. Colm found a mentor and basically said, “Hey, can I pay you for 30 minutes of your time once a month?” He came prepared, and that 30 minutes? GOLD.

Who would've thought having celiac would lead to this innovation? For this founder, it did. Jordan Weitz, co-founder of @Keychainhq, fueled by his own experience with celiac disease became obsessed with the CPG space. Rightfully so, you have to be incredibly careful what you put in and on your body. And that means knowing which brands you can trust. But what no one does...is turn that into a successful business idea. @jordanweitz_23 identified a major gap in how brands find manufacturing partners during his obsession with the CPG space and turned it into an innovative platform that streamlines the connection between brands and manufacturers. Flash to creating Keychain, a marketplace designed to help brands find the best manufacturer for the product development needs. Working with brands like Dr. Pepper, Mars, Cadbury, Sonic, and thousands more, Jordan has built the world's largest CPG database with 1M+ products & 30K+ manufacturers. In this episode of @turningpropod, Jordan discusses how he used his expertise to build confidence and drive the company forward, his struggles with sleep, how he maintains balance, and how fitness has improved his quality of life. This season of the podcast is delivered to you by @_ShipPlug. They make shipping simpler and more cost-efficient. We breakdown… ➝ The celiac diagnoses that started it all ➝ How a cold DM started Keychain ➝ Jordan's journey of rapid growth and securing funding ➝ His battle with insomnia and sleep tips ➝ How how built his team ➝ Organic growth and SEO being major acquisition channels ➝ Getting comfortable with posting on social media And much more. In this episode, Chris takes us through the early days of the business and how they turned a $7,000 investment into a thriving company. From hitting Miami beaches to sell their first nets by hand, to scaling operations and landing major retail partnerships. We covered a lot of ground, including: - How Chris and his friends hustled to prove their product and grow the business - Building Founders Club, a community dedicated to helping entrepreneurs avoid costly mistakes - Why creating an authentic personal brand means being your unapologetic self - His approach to health, wellness, and keeping financial discipline at the core of his success Some key takeaways: Start Small, Think Big: Chris and his team turned a $7k investment into a multi-million-dollar business, showing that reinvesting profits and playing the long game can lead to huge rewards. Remind me to manifest Platter's acquisition by calling myself an "acquired Ben", because clearly it worked for Brett. Got to sit down with Youtuber @brettconti92 on the @turningpropod who's now on his new venture of starting his own DTC tea brand. Content creation has always been so fascinating to me so it was cool to learn about Brett's approach to it where he uses his YouTube channel as an outlet to explore his curiosities like life in NYC or what it's like to start a new business. Hats off to the man—he turned a passion into his profession and his dreams into a reality. When I grow up, I want to be a professional Brett too.

Brett Conti (@brettconti92) is turning his million-plus social media following into customers with his latest venture: building a $1M DTC brand. He uploaded his first @YouTube video (solving a Rubik’s Cube) at just 14, and It took him nearly a decade to hit 1k subscribers. Today, he has a loyal fan base and an exciting new business on the horizon. His journey has been anything but ordinary, from living with 7 strangers in a cramped Chinatown apartment to jet-setting across the globe as a vlogger. Now, he's set his sights on creating a tea brand while bringing his followers along for every step of the ride. His goal? To build a self-funded DTC company that could eventually scale into retail and hit $1M in revenue. In the latest episode of @turningpropod, @BenSharf and I catch up with Brett to talk about his tea empire ambitions, the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, and how he balances content creation with growing a new business. Link below. Huge thanks to @_ShipPlug for sponsoring season 2 of the pod.

New episode of @turningpropod is out! Michael De Santis talks about how @_getcanopy started in 2020 after Doris Dev saw a chance to shake up the old-school humidifier market, which lacked brand loyalty and innovation. One of the co-founders, Lucas, got the idea when he saw his partner cleaning her humidifier every week with vinegar and Q-tips as part of her skincare routine. That's when it hit them - a humidifier could be more than just for allergies; it could be part of skincare. So, they redesigned it to be easier to clean (dishwasher-safe!), which was a huge win for users. They also found out new parents were using humidifiers for their babies, which helped them reach an even bigger audience. Since then, Canopy has launched more products like diffusers, showerheads, and portable humidifiers. They’re gearing up to get into big stores like Target and Sephora, and they’ve already seen great success on Amazon. Now, with a team of 16-17 full-time employees, they’re continuing to grow and build a loyal customer base by constantly innovating to meet people’s needs. Shoutout to @_ShipPlug for joining us this season. youtube.com/watch?v=JqYiAR1J…

What do Netflix and the Yankees have in common? Their staff never wants to leave. This is why 👇 They're not a 'family'. Nick DiNatale, founder of @_ShipPlug, learned very quickly that having a team made of A players who are accountable and want to make a lot of money is more valuable. And with top-of-market talent often choosing high-paying teams, ShipPlug follows the same system. Nick noted in our latest podcast episode how ShipPlug changed their way of life. Check out the full clip to see how and what he's learned about team dynamics while building ShipPlug.

This week's new podcast episode is a special one to me. I joined the @colgateuniv entrepreneurship program, @colgatetia, in 2016 with the goal of becoming an entrepreneur one day. I quickly realized that all the young, hungry entrepreneurs around me were paying close attention to the Danehy siblings (Jake Danehy / Caroline Danehy) building Fair Harbor as the blueprint to building a successful business out of Colgate. Fast forward to today and it all comes full circle. We had the pleasure of sitting down with Caroline Danehy to talk about the journey of building an iconic fashion brand that's turning ocean plastic waste into stylish, quality clothing. She's saving our oceans one swimsuit at a time. This is her story: Caroline is the Co-Founder and Chief Brand Officer of Fair Harbor, a brand that creates eco-friendly swimwear and apparel from recycled plastic bottles. And she's making waves in the fashion industry with her commitment to sustainability and innovation. She founded the brand in 2014 with her brother Jake while she was still in high school. Crazy impressive. They started as a bootstrapped company and now, Fair Harbor has re-used 36+ million plastic bottles. In this episode, we'll cover: ➝ Caroline’s journey building a brand while she was still in high school ➝ How her childhood summers in Fair Harbor set the tone for the brand ➝ The strategies and decisions that helped them grow so quickly ➝ and much more... Timestamps: 00:00:00 - Introduction to Caroline Danehy and Fair Harbor 00:02:04 - The Origin Story: Inspiration from Childhood 00:04:42 - The First Steps: Bootstrapping and Trunk Shows 00:06:34 - The Nostalgic Vibe of Fair Harbor 00:11:17 - Sustainable Innovation: Turning Plastic Bottles into Clothing 00:27:17 - Dealing with Rejection: Lessons from the Early Days 00:30:09 - Building Brand Momentum: The Role of Marketing and PR 00:35:56 - Maintaining a Strong Company Culture 00:38:43 - Vision for the Future: Expanding Fair Harbor 00:41:42 - The Personal Connection: Fair Harbor as a Lifestyle Brand 00:44:06 - The Role of Community Engagement: Beach Cleanups This season of the podcast is delivered to you by @_ShipPlug.
