$IONQ "Anybody who tells you that they have a good sense of what can be created is lying to themselves. Nobody has an idea." IonQ is the largest pure play quantum company in the world, and the only one with every quantum technology under one roof. Computing, networking, security, sensing, space through Capella. Not a shopping list. Wire a sensor to a computer over an entangled network and the sensor yields up to 10,000 times more information. None of it works unless you own the integration end to end. The bill: over $4 billion of acquisitions in two years. The latest, SkyWater, still awaiting approval. Then he stops selling qubits. Forget counts, speeds, feeds. The only question is time to a usable answer. On his slide: AstraZeneca, 656x faster than AWS's best published implementation. The clock. McKinsey breaks RSA-2048 around 2035. IonQ's roadmap says 2029. Google says 2029 too. "We don't have much time left." Then the vertigo. Every qubit doubles the computational space. 36 to 100 doubled it every 10 days. 100 to 1,000, every two hours. 10,000 to 2 million, every minute. Moore's law took two years, and Moore's law gave us the internet, mobile phones, the cloud, LLMs. He never once oversells it. Pushed to prove the qubit ratio holds at scale, he pointed at IonQ's 99.99% fidelity, then admitted there are "much smarter people than me in the organization." So what is he in Seoul to sell? Not a machine. "It doesn't mean to just sell our infrastructure." It means the hub around it. Training the next generation. Bringing in startups. Securing government communications.
