The homily was delivered at the concluding Mass of the ecclesial Encounter marking the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation 'Amoris laetitia', on love in the family. Cardinal Tagle presided at the liturgy in place of the Pope, who is recovering in Rome’s Gemelli Hospital following surgery on Tuesday to remove a “small, localized nodule” from his lung.

The results confirm that his postoperative recovery is progressing normally: the values are within the expected range for the type of operation performed. The Holy Father has undergone respiratory physiotherapy and has begun walking around his room. He has resumed eating normally and had breakfast and lunch. His recovery is proceeding as expected.
