BBC News spent Sunday referring to Jim Ratcliffe as one of Britain's richest men, except, he's an immigrant in Monaco, having moved there to avoid paying £4 billion in tax. They screen him complaining about those on benefits, even though he grew up in a council house, went to state school, had free university education, and has taken hundreds of millions in public state support from the UK, French and German governments. They screen him talking about broken Britain which is poor, but don't mention that he is a Brexiter, and Brexit has made the country poorer. Our national broadcaster should have spent the day providing context to his criticisms, instead they wrapped it in a bow, pushed it out, to stoke further division in society. I remember when the BBC was so much better than this, and I hope one day it will return to having better standards, than to simply churn out divisive nonsense masquerading as news and analysis.

Nobody wants a city on Mars. Nobody wants AI in every app. Nobody wants data centers in space. Nobody wants humanoid robots or flying cars. We want clean water. We want a stable climate. We want a habitable planet. We want wildlife to survive. We want to live.

It is entirely within the grasp of humanity to stop global catastrophe driven by climate and ecological crisis. All we need to do, is to: 1) Rapidly phase out fossil fuel burning. 2) Move away from mass livestock farming and other unsustainable agricultural practise. 3) Stop systematically destroying natural habitat and biodiversity. 4) Move away from artificially enforced competitiveness, as humans are an innately cooperative species, and have to be coerced to be competitive, and work towards the common good, as you'd expect in a planetary emergency. This isn't really any sort of secret and was well known at the time of the 1972 UN Environment Conference, and certainly by the time of the 1992 Rio Earth Summit. Absolutely the only reason we haven't changed business as usual, is the richest and most powerful people on earth, are making massive amounts of money from business as usual. The usual excuse is this is impossible as civilized society depends on the burning of fossil fuels. Let me put this into perspective. Yet less than 18% of the global population own a car, and over 80% have never flown at all, or hardly ever. So clearly over 80% of the global population don't find these activities necessary. Finally, the top 1% have higher emissions, than the bottom 66%, which really explains why we're carrying on with business as usual, on a suicidal path. The top 1% need to keep on burning fossil fuels to fuel their extravagant lifestyles, that 99% of the population don't have. So when the oligarch owned media, tell us we need to keep burning fossil fuels to maintain civilization. What they actually mean, is that they and the owners of the media they work for, need to maintain their wealth and luxury lifestyles. If most of you end up starving to death, so be it. Because they have the moral consciences of psychopaths. theguardian.com/environment/…

Drought, extreme heat, raging wildfires- yet the former consensus on climate change has evaporated. Instead the right argue net zero is a fiction and a con. Adapt to the climate crisis: but do nothing to stop it. This is becoming a civilisational threat. observer.co.uk/news/columnis…

A deeply troubling read. "Over the past century, England and Wales have lost 98% of wildflower meadows. We have also destroyed half of Britain’s ancient woodland, half of lowland ponds, 90% of freshwater wetlands and 62% of all 'farmland' wild birds." We must do better. We are better than this. #Biodiversity #England #Wales #Nature #Birds theguardian.com/news/2026/ju…

"We are losing biodiversity at a rate unparalleled in human history." Global wildlife populations have sunk over 60% since 1970. We are destroying ourselves and taking nature with us. Time to protect people and the planet. #ActOnClimate #climate #biodiversity #nature

I have known Le Porge since I was a child. Much of it is now ash. We were warned this would come. We kept burning fossil fuels anyway. Adapting to this is not a plan. Stopping the cause is.

Never forget that as early as the 1950s the oil industry knew this was *exactly* the crisis their pollution would create, but instead of warning the public, they funded massive, ongoing disinformation campaigns and lobbied against clean energy. Climate change isn’t a tragedy, it’s a crime.

Very bad for you, and it's not just in chocolate, it's in a lot things, such as biscuits, noodles, margarine etc! High saturated fat content, leading to increased cholesterol, the bad LDL type... not to mention it being a leading factor in deforestation and global warming!
