i am todays year old when ive learned of finger bowls..
Tony Montana casually eating a lemon from a bowl might seem like a humorous detail, but it reveals something much deeper about his character in Scarface. Surrounded by expensive suits, luxurious restaurants, and wealthy people, Tony is determined to prove he belongs among the elite. Yet the bowl in front of him isn’t meant for eating. It’s a finger bowl, traditionally used to rinse your fingers during a formal meal. Tony doesn’t realize this, and no one bothers to correct him. That’s what makes the moment so revealing. He can afford designer clothes, expensive dinners, and a lavish lifestyle, but wealth can’t instantly teach him the social customs of a world he never grew up in. Coming from poverty in Cuba, Tony never had the opportunity to learn the unwritten rules of high society. His ambition has earned him a place at the table, but he’s still unfamiliar with the culture surrounding it. That single lemon becomes a subtle symbol of his journey. Tony has the money to enter a world he once dreamed of, but he hasn’t fully learned how to fit into it. In a movie defined by power, greed, and violence, one tiny detail reveals more about his character than an entire conversation could.

Togi Explains Why He Ignores Trading Advice From Broke People "I'm doing a $1M to $3M trading challenge, but my $1.5M stock portfolio was getting way too boring, so I started trading options." "I bought Moderna calls while I was in Romania, then got hit with a $20K margin call." "Everyone on Twitter suddenly thinks they're an options expert. Everyone acts so smart, and everyone's also so fucking poor." "If 95% of traders lose and everyone on the internet says I'm an idiot, I feel like I'm right." "I'm up $200K. Moderna fucking ripped right after I wired the money."

huh? day trading can absolutely work. to your point - it's extremely unlikely. but so is a lot of stuff in life. i personally wouldn't advocate for anyone to get into daytrading - i actually spend the majority of my time discouraging people. i also would differentiate day trading from trading. that all said - yes people should go into things eyes wide open. if you try to trade (day trade or other) it is unlikely to work out. however, just because its unlikely to work out, doesn't mean it wont. I also would make sure to not become so risk averse that you stop trying unlikely things. you'll never start that business, buy that property, etc.
Replying to @ImNotAV1rus
Maybe time to accept day trading doesn't work (proven by numerous studies) and just put your money in an ETF

can you explain how you're using exact market maker positions with zero guesses?
no this isn't 100% right each time (if you expect that, you're an idiot- stop trading) when it is.. it's precise because we use actual market maker positions (0 guesses) & spent decades as SPX market makers (so we actually know a thing or 2 about how it works)

It somehow gets even more ignorant. The first sentence I thought he was changing the script bit using large losses or streaks which would be a little less silly. Then the rest of the sentence nukes it lol. Wait until he learns it’s completely viable to have not even a 50% win rate and be extremely profitable. Everyone a good reminder to apply a strong filter when consuming internet people.
Everyone coping about how they think losses are part of the game. No Any large losses, losing streaks, or a win rate lower than 80% (1r) is strictly you not understanding the market or how to control yourself

Traders sometimes build a disease where a losing position is seen as bad. It’s a rookie mistake. I don’t know what is with my feed tonight but it seems to be popping off with pretty silly stuff. As traders we care about our longterm performance. You can have a system with a high loss rate that is still extremely profitable. The focus needs to shift from winning or losing to expected returns. “Only bad traders take losses” is a braindead statement
Only bad traders take losses You can almost always exit for break even. The market will always tell you its going to reverse and then allow you to exit at breakeven… If you entered in the correct spot. Only about 10% of the time when your wrong does price jump without offering an exit Bad traders lose money, good traders exit when theyre wrong before they lose

I mean technically not wrong, most people don’t start life with capital already invested but that pedantic point aside, this is dumb as hell. You could take the person with a W2 and plot their wealth trajectory with investing and without - it’s a pretty clear picture. Their point underlying is sound. Income is one of your three wealth levers. Expand that as much as you can, maximize your savings (lever 2) and invest (lever 3).
I’ve never met a millionaire that made their money from investing into the stock market. All of them focused on building a business or increasing their income from a 9-5 job while investing into index funds. Taking risks does not mean gambling in the market.

This is what finding edge looks like. It’s not doing the convenient sexy stuff. It’s realizing there are small discrepancies on the cuts of cards and building a system to exploit it. Trading is literally no different - edge is edge.
Professional poker player Phil Ivey won $9.6 million at the Borgata. The casino paid him, then sued to get it back. At London’s Crockfords, he won another £7.7 million. They refused to pay. In the video below, Ivey says his job is to play the game, find a weakness in the casino and use it to win. He calls the casino his opponent and points out that it spends millions of dollars protecting its games. He wanted a specific brand of cards, a Cantonese-speaking dealer and the same decks reused. The casinos agreed. His playing partner, Cheung Yin Sun, asked the dealer to rotate certain cards, presenting it as a matter of luck. The cards had tiny differences along their backs. Once high-value cards faced one way and the others faced the opposite way, those differences helped identify what was coming next. Ivey never marked the cards. The dealer handled them. But the casino didn’t understand what those requests were doing to the odds. He called it an advantage. The casinos called it cheating. In 2017, the UK Supreme Court ruled against him: persuading the dealer to arrange the cards crossed the line. The casino had approved his requests while expecting to win. Ivey knew something about its own cards that it didn’t. Was he cheating, or should a casino know its own game before accepting someone’s money?

Idk why we do this and seem to always skip the gaps with GEX The fact none of us have any idea what is in the dealers book for one. That they don’t hedge this way. Etc. Gamma Exposure (GEX) Is Misleading You: Here's What the Research Actually Says youtu.be/shoxAlBc974
1/ Gamma sounds complicated, but the basic idea is simple: Delta measures how much an option responds to a move in the underlying. Gamma measures how quickly that delta changes as price moves. That second layer can have a real impact on market behavior.
