🪨 Thank you to everyone who came out to our Grey-Bruce-Simcoe Regional Committee meeting today at Bear Creek Golf Club! It was a great opportunity for OSSGA staff to connect with members in the area and hear about local concerns.
Next stop is Sudbury!
🌊 More than 293 hectares of aquatic habitat — the equivalent of 1,849 NHL hockey rinks — have been created from rehabilitated aggregate sites in Ontario. That's real community impact.
These rehabilitated sites provide valuable habitats and support biodiversity in the local areas long after extraction is complete.

🪨 And today we hosted the 2026 OSSGA Operations Tour!
This morning OSSGA members headed out to visit multiple sites in the Lake Simcoe area for our annual Operations Tour. This was a great opportunity to learn from cutting edge aggregate operations and connect with industry colleagues.
Thank you to everyone who came out, the members who opened their doors to us and our sponsors!
♻️ An excellent day on the road with OSSGA members and industry partners during our Rehabilitation Tour, showcasing how former aggregate sites can be transformed into valuable community, environmental and economic assets.
A highlight of the tour was a stop at the Royal Botanical Gardens’ Rock Garden, where we rededicated the OSSGA Bronze Plaque Award. Once a gravel pit, the Rock Garden stands today as one of Ontario's most celebrated examples of aggregate rehabilitation. Thank you to our participating members, sponsors and the @RBGCanada!

🌊 Did you know that 92 per cent of the water used to wash and process aggregate is recycled through a closed-loop system?
It’s one of the ways aggregate producers responsibly manage resources while supplying the materials our communities need.

What if yesterday's concrete could help build tomorrow's infrastructure? ♻️
Concrete that has reached the end of one use can still contain valuable aggregate.
Suitable material can be recovered, processed and reused as recycled aggregate in new applications instead of being treated solely as waste. 🪨
That means a material that already helped build something once can potentially contribute again.
It's resource efficiency on an infrastructure scale. 🏗️ @_OSSGA

Yesterday the OSSGA team was at Fowler Construction's head office in Bracebridge to formalize our partnership with Ontario Corps. The agreement creates a framework for OSSGA members to support emergency response and recovery efforts in communities across Ontario, symbolizing our industry's commitment to the local communities we operate in.
Thank you to Minister @JillDunlop1, Associate Minister @Graydonthempp and the staff at the Ministry of Emergency Preparedness and Response and Ontario Corps!
As Canada navigates ongoing trade uncertainty, investing in homegrown infrastructure is essential to supporting jobs, economic growth and long-term competitiveness. Building Ontario means building a stronger, more resilient economy using local materials.
Great to join Walker Industries and the team yesterday as they donated rehabilitated land to @GreySauble! This was a fantastic example of responsible land stewardship in the aggregate industry.
Our rehabilitation tour is around the corner! Get ready for a day of learning as we visit three OSSGA Bronze Plaque Award sites and learn about their history and former operations.
A special lunch and guided tour of the Rock Gardens at @RBGCanada, including a relaunch of their 1973 bronze plaque, is included.

Ontario's infrastructure relies on more material than most people realize. 📊
@_OSSGA reports that between 2026 and 2041, Ontario will need 4 billion tonnes of aggregate to support a growing population, housing, infrastructure, and construction. 🪨
Those figures reflect the ongoing need to maintain existing infrastructure while preparing for future growth. 🏗️
Understanding demand is one of the first steps toward planning responsibly. 🧭
