Morocco 🇲🇦 Minister of Youth, Culture and Sports, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, has announced the activation of approximately 800 LOCAL SPORTS PITCHES this year as part of efforts to expand access to sporting facilities across the country.
The initiative is primarily targeting rural communities and the outskirts of major cities, responding to increasing demands from local authorities and residents for improved sports infrastructure.
Bensaid made the announcement on Wednesday while presenting his ministry’s sub-budget proposal before the Committee on Education, Culture and Communication at the House of Representatives.
Egypt 🇪🇬 Ministry of Youth and Sports has partnered with Right to Dream to establish five regional football development centres as part of a national initiative to identify and nurture young talent across the country.
The agreement was formalised on Tuesday through a cooperation protocol signed by Youth and Sports Minister Gohar Nabil and Right to Dream International Academy chairman Sir Mohamed Mansour.
Under the initiative, five regional centres will be established and operated across Egypt, providing young footballers with access to professional training, education and other development opportunities.
According to a statement from the Egyptian Government, each centre will feature football pitches, fitness facilities, classrooms, medical facilities and accommodation. Operations will begin in phases.
Right to Dream Academy started from Ghana. Hehehehehe
The Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports has indicated that it agrees with and understands many of the issues following its meeting with the GFA President and the Executive Committee. Yet, some people are still unhappy with that position.
What many of you refuse to accept is that FACTS can be BORING, especially when they don't align with your preconceived opinions or preferred narratives. Not everything has to fit your expectations. Sometimes, the TRUTH is simply inconvenient.

The Soweto Derby is more than just a football match; it is a football culture.
Filling the FNB Stadium to capacity whenever @orlandopirates take on @KaizerChiefs has become part of the spectacle surrounding this historic rivalry.
The highest historical attendance for a Soweto Derby is estimated at 120,000 spectators at FNB Stadium in 1986.
In the modern, post-renovation era of the stadium, formerly known as Soccer City, the record attendance stands at 94,807, set on August 1, 2015, during the Carling Black Label Cup clash between the two giants.
Interestingly, these were periods when South African national teams were struggling to make a significant impact, while South African clubs were not exactly dominating continental football.
Consider this too: Kaizer Chiefs last won the South African league title in 2015, while Orlando Pirates ended their league title drought last season, winning it for the first time since 2012.
Yet, these prolonged trophy droughts have never diminished the appeal, passion or attendance of the Soweto Derby. The rivalry has continued to attract massive crowds regardless of the clubs' fortunes on the pitch.
That is the point people need to understand before drawing comparisons with our own football rivalries here in Ghana.
The Soweto Derby is built on history, identity, culture, community, rivalry and an emotional connection that goes beyond winning trophies.
Understand the history and significance of the Soweto Derby before comparing it to ours. There is much more to it than just the number of spectators in the stadium.

FIFA & FIFA PRESIDENT RECEIVES APOLOGY FROM ‘THE TIMES’
FIFA takes note of an apology published today by The Times following an inaccurate and damaging report:
On 13 October 2026 (Sport), we reported that Gianni Infantino received a "second salary" from Fifa, which Fifa had failed to disclose. This is incorrect. There was no “second salary.”
Regulations do not require Fifa to include expenses and reimbursements received by Mr Infantino in its annual report as they are not considered "compensation" under Swiss reporting requirements.
We also accept Mr Infantino did not purchase a property in Miami at a suspected undervalue as we reported and neither he nor his family are the legal or beneficial owners of Shadi LLC and have no control over that company, as we suggested.
We are happy to make these corrections and apologise to Mr Infantino and Fifa for the errors.
As FIFA stated in August, it is evident that there is a concerted and ongoing effort by some to undermine FIFA and its President. FIFA urges the media to act responsibly and carefully verify all sourcing to prevent the publication and subsequent reproduction of false and defamatory information.
FIFA welcomes legitimate scrutiny. But scrutiny is not a license to amplify false allegations. Where reporting is inaccurate, misleading, or totally false, as in this case, FIFA will continue to challenge it directly and vigorously.

Espérance Sportive de Tunis 🇹🇳 are earning around 2,000,000 Euros yearly from their ULTRAS through seasonal tickets with some of the prices rising to 25,000 Euros.
If a fan base can give a club an amount like this every year, how do you compete?
Ghana 🇬🇭 forward Antoine Semenyo is set to miss the Black Stars’ crucial double-header against Somalia 🇸🇴 in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after suffering an injury that is expected to keep him sidelined for around eight weeks.
The 26-year-old sustained the injury during Manchester City’s 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town, raising concerns over his availability for Ghana’s upcoming international assignments in November.
Panama 🇵🇦 head coach Thomas Christiansen Tarin has thrown his hat into the ring for the vacant Ghana Black Stars 🇬🇭 coaching job, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively report.
The Danish-Spanish tactician is the latest name to show interest in the Black Stars position, which has drawn wide attention from coaches at home and abroad.
Christiansen knows Ghana's strengths first-hand. He faced the Black Stars at the 2026 World Cup, where his Panama side lost 1-0.
He has managed AEK Larnaca and APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus, and had a spell in charge of Leeds United in the English Championship. He also led Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise from July 2019 to May 2020.

I need media houses to try a little harder to dig into a story before sharing it.
It’s not even that hard these days. Sometimes, a quick Google search is enough to uncover more context.
It’s really disappointing to see the same information regurgitated everywhere, with no one asking further questions, checking the facts or offering a different angle.
Surely, journalism should give us more than everyone repeating the same thing.
