The law, in its majestic equality, forbids all men to sleep under bridges, in SROs, or on lots smaller than 10,000 sqft-the rich as well as the poor.

René Livas estimates replacing Philly's wage tax with a land value tax would bring 26-78k jobs back from the burbs. We'd get similar boosts from replacing BIRT and the building portion of the property tax with LVT. This and other things Philly needs will be in @5thSq's platform
Legitimately, what is the answer here? Philadelphia is a city with incredible heritage, placed smack dab in the center of the universe, with a big collegiate population, low cost of living, and strong suburbs. It’s getting lapped by Pittsburgh, Boston, Austin, Tampa, Nashville. Why?

Today the newly opened Huanggang Port was a bit swamped during peak hours with travellers taking advantage of the long weekend. It took almost 1 hour to cross at surge times. Bus routes B10 and B11 were each operating as frequently as every 5 mins to handle the high demand.
HK Gov: "When the new Huanggang boundary crossing building opens everyone please try and not go over at once on the first few days just for IG pictures." (Gov literally said this the day before opening) HK people: *floods in on opening day* 嘩~打卡位! 新屎坑喎~ 嘩~ 放上IG先!

It's so sad that while data analysis is becoming radically easier and cheaper, we've invested so little in data collection itself.
Ah! A fresh episode for my Twitter microseries: "We Still Don't Really Know What The Rent Is"

Very good reporting on the political incentives that prevent Philly City Council from abolishing an office that so many outside observers have advocated eliminating

Truck crashes result in 160,000 nonfatal injuries and 6,000 fatalities every year in the US. Hour tracking devices - ELDs - were mandated in 2012, aiming to make trucking safer by stopping truckers driving long hours (by stopping falsification of paper records). Did they?

Excellent piece on SEPTA’s Accelerate vision by Clint Randall. To say nothing of the improvements on the L and trolleys, the capital investment that would bring Reimagining Regional Rail to life would transform not just Center City, but the region! inquirer.com/opinion/comment…

I hate that the L schedule says trains run every 6 minutes or less and that hasn’t been the reality in months, particularly during rush hour. @SEPTA @SEPTA_SOCIAL

Construction spending has been propped up by residential improvements and data center construction. Excluding these two categories, private nonresidential spending would be down by 9% over the past two years, according to Sage Economics. Source: Sage Economics

In my opinion, not enough people are aware that Republican U.S. Senate candidate Gerald Malloy (deploy Malloy, @GeraldMalloyVT) was selling a “skater dress” on his merch store in 2022.

Reimagining Regional Rail is finally out! The long term plan will turn a large part of SEPTA’s regional rail network into essentially a second metro system.

A stronger future for our region starts with a vision. SEPTA has connected people in Southeastern Pennsylvania to jobs, opportunity, and the neighborhoods they call home for more than 60 years. Now we have an opportunity to build on that legacy. Accelerate is #SEPTA’s vision for a safer, more reliable, accessible, and best-in-class transit system. One that strengthens Pennsylvania’s economy, helps our entire region grow, and makes Greater Philadelphia an even better place to live, work, and do business. This is what’s possible when we invest in #publictransportation. And we’re ready to get to work. Watch the video to see SEPTA’s vision for the future. #ISEPTAPHILLY #Accelerate #TheFuture #BestInClass #Invest

last week @transitmatters released our annual Pokey/Schleppie awards. in a bit of dark humor, the slowest bus route on the #MBTA is the SL4, one of a handful of routes designated as BRT the full report (read it!) is here: static1.squarespace.com/stat…

It’s a CMX-4 site right next to the newly-reopened train station that’s zoned for 775 units by-right. Nobody can agree on what it should be. Just knock it down and pursue an appropriately-scaled high-rise
