I would genuinely love to hear a member of the Newsnight production team, offer a justification of how it made a lick of sense editorially to have the podcasting former banjo player from Mumford and Sons argue tax and economic policy with an actual economist from the Green Party.
"If you want to lift up the poor, you have to create wealth."
"How's that going?"
Podcaster and former Mumford & Sons member Winston Marshall discusses taxes with economist and Green Party supporter Faiza Shaheen.

Designers and musicians these days have infinite access to every reference and tool to ever exist yet suffer from paralysis and the notion of having to do a technique the "right" way... Yet still come up sauceless. I think we need to ask ourselves WHY?
Earlier in my career, when I knew less, I was making more "interesting" work. When I was producing music, I had 1 or 2 drum packs, 1 of those small korg volca synths and I was making DOPE beats.
Pokémon Red for the gameboy was 373 kilobytes.
Liberate yourself from the notion that you must know everything to move forward. They're calling it something less savoury these days (somethingmaxxing) but there is freedom in knowing that your only toys are in your own sandbox.
feels relevant right now, so here is a clip of myself and @domesticetch discussing the art of gatekeeping, and why having less resources can be more critical to developing your own creative style
shoutout to @EdSunspot too
(1/6) Glad you’re here @hassanrahim. Yes your reaction is correct. The reason people suddenly want to talk about this is that the cost of production is at the floor. Now that we can will anything into existence with the new tools, the people with the best “taste” are seen as more valuable to organizations than they have ever been. The fallacy is that “taste” is being treated as a credential you can sell. But the fallacy is that “taste” now means something that can be sold and not something that is unique.
ok genuine question and i’m not being obtuse — what is the whole discourse around “taste” right now?
i’ve only ever worked in the creative industry so taste is literally a prerequisite, never really discussed bc you would otherwise not be in the room
so is this “taste” conversation happening bc the world is now run by engineers who are trying to “solve” creativity?
also what the fuck is a moat?
i’m sorry

Full doc to come, but we wanted the fans be the ones to see this first. Introducing Rocastle, the third typeface family drawn for @Arsenal Football Club, to complete the Arsenal type system with Northbank and Chapman. Designed in terrain with Léa Bruneau.

maybe the funniest part of the bayeux tapestry is when they briefly pause the narrative to show you a guy called wadard who then never shows up again

"The Departed" is a pretty silly movie. Jack Nicholson gets worried about a cop in his crew. His crew is like 5 guys where 4 of them don't really speak English and one of them is brand new and just dropped out of the state police academy

Probably going to be completely overlooked by the media but today is the 200th birthday of photography as a medium and that’s pretty cool
