This hurts to write (let’s call it tough love), but I believe that in full transparency, in advocating for EVs one must also acknowledge the downsides. My company leases a BYD Sealion (and other EV’s on the fleet) - on paper, it’s great value for money. A Chinese car @BYDCompany leased via @santanderuk But then we had an issue with a door harness - took the car to Hartwell Bracknell; they can’t fix the car - it’s been off the road 71 days chasing faults around the car. Santander don’t want to answer the phone (2.5hrs on hold today) and BYD are unhelpful with a car that has a seemly a catastrophic fault. The cars a lemon (and frankly so are the leasing company and the dealer), the question really is, are all their cars lemons or is this a one-off? Clearly BYD aren’t ready for scale in U.K. and don’t have the dealer back up you’d expect of a mass brand - so as much as I advocate for low cost EVs, my advice at least in the short term, is steer clear of the BYD! The same might be said of Santander leases and Hartwell dealers! I will of course update you on any progress!

My 13 y/o son quite proud with supplying the family and candle shop with heat this winter. 25 face cords of standing dead ash, maple, cherry and elm. 4 months of splitting. Gonna be one warm shop!

Je croyais que le voile c’était une preuve de rapprochement spirituel dans l’islam. Y’a pas indiqué dans leur religion que faut pas voler ? Elle est là en toute transparence avec son voile à vider un magasin. Espèce de clown.

Where are they now that Paris is burning in what the BBC describes as *checks notes “protests”
🇬🇧🇫🇷⚡️Breaking: WEF Weasels On Wheels: Here is PM Keith Starmer with fellow globalist Emmanuel Macron, inspecting the streets of war-torn Paris. These two are ready to take on President Trump, President Putin and President Xi, despite not being able to stop millions of illegals in buses and dinghies from taking over their respective countries.

My essay in the Daily Mail today: It should be possible to question the scale and speed of immigration, or to mourn the disappearance of a familiar culture, without being assumed to harbour 'hatred' towards any new arrivals. Love for England and a wish to preserve its historic civilisation are not the same as antipathy towards outsiders. dailymail.com/debate/article…

"You can't hate someone because of their religion." Well, actually people are free to dislike or even hate others because of their religion, or for any other reason. This is part of being human. We like some people and we dislike others. It's normal and natural. The law cannot and should not try to control what people feel. What the law can control is what people do. You are free to hold whatever views you want about others. You might dislike someone because they are gay, because they are Christian, because they are Muslim, because they are a Jehovah’s Witness, or for any other reason. Those feelings, however unpleasant they may be, are not crimes. The line is crossed when someone harms another person or infringes on their rights. The moment hatred turns into actual harassment, actual intimidation, violence, or unlawful discrimination, the state has a legitimate role to step in. A free society cannot police emotions, but it can and should police harmful actions.

Across from Luskentyre on Harris, in the Outer Hebrides. Pink clouds over the hills, turquoise water and miles of white sand. It's one of my favourite places to photograph anywhere. Would you believe this is the UK?

We owe £3 trillion. We spend more on working-age benefits than we raise in income tax. Our social security budget is five times our actual security budget. And these two are pretending to be gap-year vloggers in Bangkok.

Sophie I can get you a cleaning job, a care job or customer services job this week - do you want it or not?
Myself and Many of my friends have found it rather difficult to get decent jobs out of uni - many friends have found it hard to get a job at all. It is utterly unacceptable that Four in five new jobs created in Britain since 2014 were taken by migrants - but it’s all because anti white racism

National Grid is trying to fell a 300-year old oak it promised to save. (The farmer even checked this morning that they would keep their promise and they said yes). This afternoon he finds out they were lying and WERE going to fell it. He has stopped them - for good?

Why do old people (like me) go to a garden centre for coffee and cake, or lunch? Easy to park. Free to park. No one working on a laptop. No one in a zoom call. No one playing tik toks on speaker. No one shouting into their phone. The guy on the counter isn’t having a phone conversation while he serves you. Tables are clean. Toilets are clean. Coffee is the same as most coffee shops, cakes are better.

Fair. Just stop faffing and approve it all. If it's good enough for Norway, it is surely good enough for us.
Kemi Badenoch asks the Prime Minister if he will stop "faffing about" and approve Rosebank and Jackdaw in the North Sea. Andy Burnham says he will take a "pragmatic" approach to oil and gas and will set out the government's approach shortly. #PMQs

I’m sorry, but hackers remotely turning off refrigeration systems at hundreds of supermarkets and destroying all their fresh and frozen food is INSANE. We’ve connected so much of our physical world to the internet that apparently even keeping milk cold is now a cybersecurity problem. What the actual hell.
