Bluetongue virus is having a serious impact on Dutch livestock farms. @NFUtweets regional livestock board chairs @Farmerdbarton @English_Farmer & @Sondesplacefarm
This week, a delegation of farmers and advisors from @NFUtweets @UFUHQ and @NFUCymru travelled to the Netherlands to see the devastating impacts of bluetongue (BTV-3) on farm. Here is what we learned..
🧵 – at The Netherlands
There is no solution to BTV-3. Enhancing biosecurity and keeping stock inside with good ventilation can help, but the industry desperately needs a vaccine. Development could take months. – at The Netherlands
The European industry must come together to support, develop and deliver an effective vaccine for farmers to protect them against the devastating impacts of BTV-3.
Many thanks to @LTONederland for organising.
