Trying to get this out there to all my teacher friends. Google chat gpt. This is a new AI tool (launched on Dec 1st) that is going to change education. Many of your students are already using it write essays. Tons of applications for teachers too.
Well, day two started to bring it all back to me! Yesterday I felt a bit like a fish out of water, but those elementary instincts were sharp as tacks today and I was on fire!!
Whoa. My first day teaching grade 4. Haven't taught elementary since 08/09. Those kids were awesome, and it was pretty amazing to be there again. But, I'm also very...very tired.
So excited to be among the people interviewed by @CBCKimJ for a piece on @CBCHomestretch about @mahogany_school !!

Finding so much knowledge and wisdom in @schock's Design Justice. Required reading in @sj_bartlett 's class on Human-Centred Design, Social Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at @UCalgaryEduc. #codesign #smashthepatriarchy
Finished reading 'Group Genius' by R. Keith Sawyer for my @UCalgaryEduc masters course starting tomorrow. Wow.

Was a sad goodbye to Nelson Mandela High School this week and a lot of good friends and memories. Beginning my journey with Mahogany School with an open heart and connecting with the land. @MandelaUnited @mahogany_school
Started reading "What happened to you?" by @BDPerry and @Oprah. The lessons from this book make me feel like so many parts of my life are clicking together like pieces of a puzzle. So grateful for this chance to understand myself and my future students. #traumainformed
I'm excited to get started with my second year of my MEd @UCalgaryEduc this summer. Signed up for my classes in collaborative creativity and human centred design today and am pretty excited that @sj_bartlett will be my instructor!!

This is not ancient history:

This article shows that Alberta specifically is 3rd in the world for reading, 3rd for science, and 8th for math. Not sure why the government feels there is a big problem with our education system.

Sorry not sorry for outing Bridgeland’s really cool hill. It’s actually Tom Campbells Hill, but it’s in Bridgeland. If you can figure out how to get up there, you’re really going to enjoy it.

I’m pretty sure that part of my marriage vows to the incomparable @thompsojeff entail at least one maker project a year. The Grade 6’s did not disappoint with their models of the House of Commons. We had a lot of fun building these and making connections btw Fed and Prov gov.
