Jorge Masvidal and Ben Askren break down Masvidal’s ICONIC flying knee KO from both of their perspectives 👀 🗣️Askren: “l couldn’t predict it. I didn’t know where it’s coming from, and your brain brings these prediction pattern. Like you said, I was never hit with a flying knee in my life before that, and you weren’t coming from straight up, you were coming from an angle, so my brain obviously misread it, and you’re done…” 🗣️Masvidal: “What helped me get it, was like there’s few guys. With strikers I have more of a photographic memory for striking, for a lot of things. Even when your coach is doing 1-2-3 and he shows it. For wrestling I gotta ask questions, I got to feel it, same thing with tapes. I would like watch all your fights, another guy I would watch is Demian Maia, and I would think “What are these guys doing?” These guys are good grapplers so I got to be honest, so I just noticed it, in a lot of ur fights all of a sudden you were in a range you didn’t like, you would shoot, or you would find a way to clinch. Whether you would get to a 2 on 1, or an underhook, or a single leg, so I was like what if I could do that. I could just change the speed on the closing, so when he goes for the wrestling, I’m prepared for it.” (Via @full_send_mma / YT)
