Today on World CRISPR Day, we would like to highlight our two chemistry laureates Jennifer Doudna and Emmanuelle Charpentier.
In 2012, they developed a method for high-precision gene editing, which has transformed the field of biotechnology and medicine. The genetic scissors became known as CRISPR/Cas9. In 2020 their breakthrough was awarded with the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Every line in these sketches stands for a factor in a calculation.
Two electrons repel by trading a photon. An electron and a positron annihilate into two photons; Feynman drew the positron as an electron line running backward in time. Behind them is the path integral: a particle takes every path, each weighted by e^(iS/ℏ). Paths near the classical one add in phase; the rest cancel.
⟨x_b|x_a⟩ = ∫ 𝒟x e^(iS/ℏ)
