Tired of these DPRK hacks. So I built the ultimate defense. DPRKaptcha[.]com Simple questions with existential outcomes (for them). Live now to protect the internet from North Korea.
THIS IS INSANE. In just 4 days following the biggest exploit ever, Mercado Bitcoin is hacked for $40M and an EU exchange is hacked for $106M today. Is anything safe anymore??? 🤯

quick ones 1) Binance has enough to withstand 3-4x of current hit and still be largely intact. Very likely they will shrug this off and user funds are very likely safu (but like obviously don’t deposit until they sort out what went wrong) 2) Wintermute obv has exposure to binance, but less than 20% of net equity and I don’t see any disruption to our operations on any time horizon in whatever scenario

not only am i not worried about the crypto community's ability to handle the upcoming ai/quantum threat, i will venture to say that in the next 2 yrs the world will realize crypto is far better prepared for it than the rest of the internet and finance. we've had a trillion dollar *irreversible* honey pot for a decade, producing a far more battletested system and adversarial security culture than pretty much anywhere else on earth.

This is really really cool, @etheconomiczone just executed the first atomic L1 L2 tx on mainnet and imo this is going to have some massive market structure implications especially around fragmentation. If you think about how eth’s scaled so far every new L2 basically creates another little economy that has to bootstrap its own apps, users and liquidity, which is why L2s have spent millions incentivising capital to bridge and ended up duplicating huge amounts of liquidity across different places. Now imagine someone wants to borrow usdc on an L2, they’d need enough usdc sitting there to fund the borrow, but if that application can access liquidity somewhere else atomically then you don’t need all that usdc sitting there in the first place. Which is why I think this is really big because moving execution somewhere new will no longer mean having to bootstrap an entire economy around that new execution environment (L2), the economic state can stay concentrated on mainnet while execution happens across loads of different places so eth can concentrate the economy while distributing the execution. That opens up a huge amount of design space for specialised rollups because a privacy L2 can just focus on being really good at privacy same for trading, AI, payments or whatever the L2 specialises in. Which is also net good for users because your going to end up with a bunch of specialised rollups all competing for order flow from the same shared economy which means execution itself becomes the product. I actually think this means we end up with way more rollups because the barrier to launching gets massively lower, and being able to tap into mainnet’s economic state while L2 teams can focus on optimising execution for their specific use case is a pretty hard proposition to reject. So if these guys keep shipping we’ll end up with one massive ethereum economy with execution happening across loads of specialised rollups instead of a thousand little economies connected by bridges, which sounds a lot more like how eth was meant to scale in the first place lol.
Atomic synchronous composability is no longer a promise. History made on mainnet: the first atomic cross-chain L1->L2 transaction ever 🔥 And this is only the beginning for EEZ ... 🚀 @etheconomiczone

EtherFi is launching their own stablecoin, powered by Ethena Whitelabel. @ether_fi has >$300m of stablecoin deposits held across their platform. Reserves, mint and redeem, & compliance for @ether_fi USD will be managed end to end by Ethena. Since launching their category-defining Cash card in 2024, they have scaled to nearly $1 billion in cumulative spend and more than 100,000 active cards. The best stablecoin neobanks will move to own the entire stack and earn from idle deposit balances alongside their broader product suite.

Ok, hats off, this is genuinely based. Private AI inference with usage enforced through zero-knowledge proofs instead of accounts, identity, or surveillance. This is exactly the kind of weird cypherpunk infrastructure Ethereum should be building.
Today the EF and OA announce zkAPI—a new means for private AI Picture this: deposit ether into a vault, sign a zk proof, get a fixed amount of private inference. Advances like these help us move past middlemen's requirements that we link our data and identities. Read more below

Quick updates on the Open Anonymity project (@OpenAnonProject)! 1. OA-chat is live! You can now signup: chat.openanonymity.ai 2. We collaborated with @ethereumfndn (@VitalikButerin, @DavideCrapis, @VittoStack, @curryrasul) to develop zkAPI, a new zero-knowledge protocol for accessing gated / paid APIs with unlinkability. It’s like a generalization of OA unlinkable inference that also abstracts payments away. Now also available on OA-chat! I'm excited because more infrastructure should exist where privacy and sovereignty is foundational and people are in control.

📋Withdrawing EIP-8363 from consideration for Hegotá. EIP-8363 rapidly became one of the most commented-on EIPs in the history of the Ethereum-Magicians forum, with 200+ comments in a few weeks. As we progressed through the Hegotà CFI (Consideration For Inclusion) process, several parties in the industry as well as core protocol and client contributors voiced that a fork scoping exercise was not the right venue to settle an issuance policy change. We agree and we'd rather acknowledge this now than carry on towards Hegotà in this context. The topic is too important and raised too many concerns that it deserves its own process. We commit to giving issuance its own process and we thank the entities such as @LidoFinance who offered to help steer such an initiative. We stand by the motivation of this EIP, in particular: “a very high staking ratio is undesirable for two distinct reasons (...), preserving Ethereum’s security, neutrality and resistance to capture, and protecting ETH’s role as money.” Not everybody immediately relates to both reasons and for others recognizing just one of these reasons is enough to justify a change. Nevertheless, we will all benefit from improving our understanding of the issue and what is at stake. The questions we have faced since we published EIP-8363 can be boiled down to 5 categories: ➡️Security: What does a lower ratio actually secure versus a higher ratio? ➡️Industry impact: What else is built on the yield and what will be the impact ? ➡️Curve specs and alternate tools: Is this curve even the right instrument? ➡️Composition: Who is left staking (the effect on the composition of the validator set) ? ➡️Decentralization: How will solo stakers be impacted by the reduction? We already argued a lot, conceded some and adjusted a few points in the very long Ethereum-Magicians thread mentioned supra. For a broader consensus to emerge and a better issuance policy for Ethereum to be designed and adopted, we need a dedicated process. We call for all willing hands to help and contribute to this, please do reach out. Here’s our start at what a multi-node process would look like (table attached). Onward and forward, let’s improve Ethereum.
🚨 New EIP: Tapered Issuance Burn We just submitted an EIP to ethereum/EIPs: a minimal, market-driven fix to Ethereum's issuance policy removing the incentive for stake growth beyond 50% of ETH supply. EIP-8361 by @pintail_xyz, @jdetychey, @dapplion, @pa7x1, @ladislaus0x & @drakefjustin 🧵

The irony of all this is it’s framed as an ai risk that needs protection against. But think about what it really means Our banking system is so unsustainable and extractive that the moment humans have smart ai bots advising them, the ai bots will recommend exiting banks and earning better yield elsewhere Which makes most banks economically unviable This isn’t AIs fault, it’s a risk of highly monopolized and extractive banking And it’s fixed by decentralized finance + ai, where users decide what to do with their own assets and earn their own yield
The chief economist at Apollo is warning that mass adoption of AI agents could trigger a bank run as they optimize user investments. Gary Gensler spent his last few years as SEC chair warning that the exact same problem will hit the markets: the pursuit of algorithmic perfection at scale destroys system stability. Personal-finance agents making simultaneous optimal decisions could potentially cause a massive flash crash. Agent acausal coordination, with no messages passed between them, will show up in a lot of places. Markets will get the big headlines, but huge numbers of clever advisors making very similar choices will impact all of human society. Capability gains make this worse, not better. The smarter the agents, the narrower the optimal path; and knowing that other agents see that exact same path lets them move together without talking to each other. Agents do not need to collude to act in unison. Thus, they break no human laws by doing so. Human laws were not written for this. They were not written for a lot of what is coming, and it is about to start happening very fast.
