157 new fires in one week, and most of them you’ll never hear about.
That’s the point.
FNN™ works toward the same goal: flagging the riskiest lightning strikes within seconds, so crews can find fires before they make headlines.
Not every wildfire makes the news. Many are stopped before they have a chance to grow.
While California may be experiencing fewer wildfire starts, new fires are still igniting every day.
Over the past week, 157 new wildfires started across the state. CAL FIRE’s goal is to contain 95% of wildfires at 10 acres or less. Meeting that goal takes a fast response and decisive action before flames have a chance to spread.
📸 The Oct. 12 Rock Fire is one example. @CALFIRENEU and partner agencies responded and contained the fire at just 1.5 acres, preventing it from growing larger.
These smaller fires are a reminder of why every response matters, even when it doesn't make the headlines.
Not all lightning is equal. ⚡
FNN™ uses AI to identify the 5% of strikes most likely to start wildfires, in seconds.

Santa Ana winds can turn a dry, windy day into a serious wildfire threat.
Understanding the conditions that increase fire risk is key to helping communities prepare. 🔥
Our most remote office: no desk, no AC, no one on site. Just a view. 🏔
FNN™ stations like this one pinpoint lightning strikes in millionths of a second, right on the mountain, so crews get alerts in seconds.

Isaias is now a Category 1 hurricane.
Do hurricanes produce lightning? ⚡ Not as often as you might think.
But when lightning appears in the eyewall, it can offer clues about what’s happening inside the storm.
FNN™’s Dr. @MattSitkowski explains: linkedin.com/feed/update/urn…
Isaias is now a hurricane.
If you're along the Gulf Coast, follow @FLSERT, the National Hurricane Center, and your local officials, and finish your preparations now.

Distance isn't safety. So, when lightning strikes remote terrain, tracking holdover fires is a race against time.
Partnering with leaders like @CAL_FIRE, FNN™ delivers 100ft precision in under 40 seconds to spot and suppress fires early.

During periods of high fire risk, a few simple actions can help protect your home from flying embers, which can travel a mile or more ahead of a wildfire.
🏠 Clear leaves, needles, and debris from roofs and gutters.
🔥 Move flammable items at least 5 feet from your home.
🚪 Close garage doors and pet doors.
🪟 Close windows.
When fire weather arrives, do an ember check and prepare your home to resist ember intrusion.
Wildfire prevention depends on more than simply detecting strike time. The key is knowing which strikes pose the greatest risk. Discover how our HRL™ Detector is streamlining lightning-driven wildfire risk mitigation.
