This WV girl is elated to share that this paper is forthcoming in West Virginia Law Review!
I explore how post-9/11 precedent paved the way for the Trump administration's abuse of the law to target cartels in international waters and to effectuate its mass deportation campaign.
. @brett_mcgurk is one of our nation’s great experts on the Middle East and has spent decades working at the highest levels of diplomacy through some of the region’s most consequential moments.
I’m really looking forward to reading Brink and learning from his firsthand account of the extraordinary efforts to free the hostages, and confront the extraordinary challenges of the region.
whoa! what happened after that??
The day that Biden grew so angry at Netanyahu that he nearly cut him off: "He was just completely fed up with everything and I think at that moment he was ready to just say, 'I’m done,'" @brett_mcgurk recalls as he releases "Brink," his memoir of Gaza war. nytimes.com/2026/10/01/us/po…
o wow has anyone else been president since then, what happened to the deal during that time i wonder
President Trump is now offering Iran sanctions relief and access to frozen funds in exchange for concrete steps on its nuclear program.
Sound familiar?
It’s a lot like the nuclear deal President Obama negotiated, which I worked on and which Trump tore up in his first term and replaced with nothing.
A big reason we ended up in this failed war of choice.

Biden announced another $28 billion worth of weapons to Israel in the six months after McGurk claims this conversation supposedly happened. To put in context, Biden’s plan for universal pre-K for 4 year olds, which he scrapped, was $19.6 billion per year
“The Situation Room connected the call. Biden jumped in. “Bibi, man, what the fuck are you doing?” He gripped the phone tight. “You think I’m Santa Claus? No Santa in Israel, pal.” theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0…

Part of the book's argument is that Sullivan et al
(a) focussed on the "humanitarian crisis" while fueling the mass killing, destruction, and displacement, and
(b) tinkered around the edges instead of compelling Israel to allow sustained and unimpeded humanitarian access.
Jake Sullivan had his spokesperson call into NPR *during @AkbarSAhmed's interview* to complain he was treated unfairly in Ahmed's book about how the Biden administration fathered the Gaza genocide.
Sullivan wants us to know he was in fact "working tirelessly" to help Gaza.
NEW: As Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan defended sending U.S. weapons to Israel and denied its assault on Gaza was genocide. In his first year out of office, he collected $560,000 in corporate speaking fees. readsludge.com/2026/09/23/ja…
on the Cheney of it all, there's a difference between "fighting Trump" and "thinking J6 was embarrassing"

Correct, the overarching liberal FP orthodoxy is the US slipped on a banana peel and destroyed Vietnam, Iraq and killed 20K+ Palestinian children in a bumbling good faith attempt to “defend democracy.” Does it make sense? No. Is it a necessary fiction to maintain empire? Clearly.
This ia mainstream position in international relations, most famously articulated by the late Kenneth Waltz.
New clip: Hasan Piker says he believes the Middle East would be more stable if Iran had a nuclear weapon.

There seems to be a lot of liberals that haven't come to terms with the fact we double tapped a girls school in Iran, kidnapped the president of Venezuela and stole their oil and gold, blockaded gas into Cuba, and are randomly blowing up fishing boats for no reason.
👀 NEW: @hasanthehun joins @alexthomp on the Season 3 premiere of The Axios Show in what Piker called "the most contentious interview" he's done.
Piker claims that "pound for pound," America conducts more terror around the world than al-Qaeda.
Hasan Piker says America is worse than al-Qaeda "pound for pound"
We don't interrogate enough the fact that so much of American exceptionalism relies on explaining away each of our atrocities as an oopsie.
It's technically true that the US has killed more civilians than al-Qaeda as @hasanthehun says but that's because the US is a superpower of 350 million people and al-Qaeda is a relatively small terror group. It's comparing apples and oranges. Also, key difference: US policymakers for all their faults do not deliberately try to kill Muslim civilians. Al-Qaeda does.

for the millionth time the issue wasn't that the Biden admin "didn't do more". The issue is THEY DID TOO MUCH, in this instance arming, covering up and lying in support of genocide. They want to reframe is as a R2P Rwanda-type situation. It was not. THEY ACTIVELY aided genocide.
He's one more statement away from pledging to donate to Palestinians with Pell grants who start businesses in disadvantaged communities for 3 years
