A really sinister level of this is that it makes it functionally very, very hard to boycott the BBC. If this goes through, you could choose to never watch the BBC again, but if you want to watch any sort of media ay all, you'd have no choice but to continue funding it. Grim.
🚨 NEW: The Government is planning to extend the licence fee to online platforms such as Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon

Sorry to be boring but painkillers aren’t sold in small, individually foiled boxes in Europe because nobody takes them, it’s to prevent suicides and overdoses. After this became law in Britain in 1998, paracetamol-related deaths fell by 43%!

Airports invented “Come 3hrs before your flight… or else!”to make you spend more while you’re imprisoned for hours after security. Some very evil airports (mostly 🇪🇺🎉) hide the gate until the last minute, so you spend more time in the central area with many shops, instead of heading to the “branches” (gates)
sfo probably the only airport in the world where you can leave your house an hour and a half before your international flight and still have time to spare before boarding

Israel is the realisation of the Zionist ethnonationalist project, and its crimes are committed to protect and sustain it, conflating zionism with Judaism and antizionism with antisemitism doesnt protect Jews; it risks making them collectively responsible for the crimes of israel

Bethany wore a T-Shirt that said ‘Protect the Dolls’ during #Strictly rehearsals. After posting a video, the BBC quietly replaced it with a new one that doesn’t show her from the front. During the show, they actually blurred out the T-Shirt completely. Absolutely despicable

This is what "news" outlets mean when they say protesters "clashed" with the police. It means police beat the fuck out of peaceful protesters. Every time.
They say you can peacefully protest and as soon as you do they use violence to break it up. It is fine for them to use violence against you, not a single one of these French Police would ever be prosecuted. Then they claim it is the protestors who are violent.

The genocide occurring as we speak presumably doesn't qualify as a bloodbath
Replying to @MhairiHunter
Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital. I didn't realise they had been that explicit. It's insane. There is no way that trying to force Israel out of existence would not become an absolute bloodbath. What were they thinking. I'll get replies saying I am betraying Palestinians.

There's nothing more idealistic than a "two-state solution" -- Israel will never permit a sovereign Palestinian state. One state is 'realistic' because it's actually the reality. The question is just whether that state is a racist, genocidal apartheid state, or not.
Something which makes me suspicious: People who are hyper-realist on some foreign policy issues and hyper-idealist on others. E.g thinking both 1) In the interests of peace, Ukraine should come to some compromise settlement with Russia, whether or not all their sovereign territory is returned (hyper-realist) and 2) The only acceptable outcome in the Middle East is a single secular Palestinian state where jews and Palestinians live peacefully side-by-side (hyper-idealist).

This isn’t a matter of “please just text me”, nor is this like some Gen Z hates phones type thing. This is spam callers completely obliterating the trust of the common man answering the phone because so many of us get bots calling our number almost every day.

I stayed in Saint Denis last year and found the warnings of “no-go zone” utterly laughable. It was a completely fine area, at no point did I feel remotely unsafe even when walking about at night. It’s just pure racism.
Outrage in France after Bally Bagayoko, the far-left mayor of the country’s most infamous no-go zone Saint-Denis joined student rioters who were attacking a high school in the area. He could be seen laughing with them, giving high fives and jumping up and down. Bagayoko is the mayor of 150 000 people, of which around 90% are immigrants, second-generation migrants and third-generation migrants.

To be clear, the legal obligation on British government to act to prevent genocide does not require it to accept that it is a genocide, it only requires knowledge of a "serious risk" of genocide. To say we'll wait for ICJ decision is a failure to comply with the law.
‘Once you accept it’s a genocide, states have to act immediately.’   Andy Burnham won’t call what’s happening in Gaza a genocide, @NickFerrariLBC asks @HZomlot why not.
