Not related but,I wonder how some ppl that are able to raise 10- 20M in Nigeria still go abroad to do petty condescending jobs they'll never do in Nigeria, Jobs like cleaning, laundry services, retirement homes nursing and caring for the aged people..
My brother's first paycheck in America had 3 more zeros than back home.
His first grocery run humbled him faster than the paycheck excited him.
$9 for a small bag of plantain. $12 for pepper soup spices that used to cost him pennies.
He called me laughing, saying "this dollar sign is not what I thought it was."
Back home, everybody thinks once you touch American soil, you're basically rich.
Meanwhile he's doing the math on rent, gas, insurance, and still sending money back, the immigrant tax nobody warns you about.
He told me: "Bro, the American Dream is real, but they don't tell you it comes with a payment plan."
Still working 2 jobs, still smiling on video calls home so nobody worries.
