Labor’s Digital Duty of Care Bill is another disgraceful attempt to control what Australians can see and say online. Anika Wells and the Albanese Labor Government are using “online safety” as an excuse to push even more government interference into our lives. One Nation won’t stand by while Labor chips away at free speech and tells Australians what they’re allowed to say online.

So it turns out that @AnikaWells, the lady who wants to censor her political enemies at home and the entire Internet globally, lied about her misuse of public money for personal travel. And it's not even her first time. No wonder these lying crooks are desperate for censorship.

Rowan Dean just tore into Anika Wells over Labor’s Digital Duty of Care bill. “It’s not about you” Wells is out there acting like this is her personal crusade to “save the kids” and set the standards. Dean called it straight: she thinks it’s all about her. It’s not. It’s about handing the eSafety crowd and the platforms the tools to shut down speech Labor doesn’t like, under the cover of “harm,” “hostile ideas,” and massive fines. They had to walk back the worst ministerial powers after the backlash, but the core is still there. Platforms will over censor to stay safe. Political debate, immigration, climate, criticism of the government, all fair game once the incentives are set. Dean’s right. Stop making it about the minister’s ego and start looking at what this actually does to free speech in Australia. It destroys it.

If there was ever confirmation Australian Mainstream Media is an absolute swamp of shit that is only further confirmed today by @BrendenHills You really think I'm bouncing a ball in my backyard? You really think I'd bother going to the Police if this just involved me? Linking me being 2m tall to going to the Police is meant to infer what? That I can't handle myself? Or maybe, just maybe its an 8 year old child. And maybe, just maybe a neighbour stabbed an 8 year olds Basketball with a knife, then throw it at their head whilst they were in their own backyard and then further threatened a 8 year old child. Amazing what cameras pickup right? Read that again. "Bouncing a ball for hours" is also horrifically incorrect - but I get it you must sell clicks and sensationalise things. Maybe next time before going for the ''front page scoop'', attend the court hearing, which is only next week, and you will can see for yourself the details instead of running with absolute diarrhoea. But this would imply journalistic integrity. No wonder the Australian Government needs to fund you muppets.

A thread not to miss for ALL Australians.
Wow, wow, wow. I just left the National Press Club where Minister of Communications @AnikaWells spoke. She repeatedly and brazenly lied about the fake accounts, claiming they were only for enforcement, even though the legislation says in black and white that the eSafety Commissioner can use them in unlimited ways for "educational" and "promotional" purposes. One big moment came when a Politico reporter got up and said something about how mean people like @PaulineHansonOz were to eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman-Grant. Seriously. A supposed reporter was white-knighting for a government official during the official Q&A. The same reporter had come up to me before Wells' speech and asked if I had criticized Inman-Grant. Who needs government censors when you have Politico? After he asked his question, Wells showed the most emotion, describing online criticism of Inman-Grant as "abuse." She also talked about her own staff's supposed suffering. I kid you not. The mask dropped, and you could see what really upset her: people — including a sitting Senator — criticizing government officials. After gaslighting the audience about fake accounts, Wells repeatedly insisted the government wasn't trying to censor content. She said this after filling her speech with examples of content she claimed harmed people. You couldn't make it up. This legislation is the culmination of decades of progressives equating words with physical violence. Wells cynically compared her legislation to prevent psychological "harm" to various laws that protect people from physical harm, like seat belt laws. BTW, Wells never said what content it was that she thought caused eating disorders. Pictures of skinny women? Dietary advice? Who knows. Nobody asked. Another important moment came when Wells explicitly said Australia would be pursuing censorship alongside other nations, including the UK, France, and Spain—all countries where governments risk losing power to populists. I spoke with Julie Inman-Grant before the speech began and asked about the fake accounts. She insisted they were there just for enforcement, and when I asked why the law allowed them to be used for government propaganda, she said she might write an "enforcement memo," which, of course, would have no impact on the legislation. After her speech, I went up to Wells and asked if she was seriously saying the legislation didn't allow the government to use fake accounts for government propaganda. She refused to answer. A man who said he was from the National Press Club stepped in front of me and said I could interview her afterward. But that wasn't possible because they rushed her out the back to avoid any difficult questions. So there you have it. The pettiest people in Australia are seeking to silence citizens and their political opponents in the name of protecting children. These deeply intolerant and cynical people want to control what you can see and say online. And they're doing it with most of the media's support. Australia has reached a new low in its rapid descent into dogmatism, intolerance, and censorship.

Amazing work @SenatorAntic
Based With Senator Alex Antic - Episode 44 – Michael Shellenberger @shellenberger – Digital Duty of Care Michael Shellenberger is a leading investigative journalist well known for his work on the Twitter Files. He is the founder and president of Civilization Works, a nonprofit that incubates ideas, leaders, and movements, and cofounder of the California Peace Coalition. Michael is a fierce advocate for freedom of speech, and in 2024 he campaigned extensively against the Labor Government’s proposed “Mis and Dis Information” laws. His work played a major role in ensuring those proposed laws were never introduced into the Parliament. A previous guest on Based Podcast, on this episode Senator Antic and Michael discuss the serious and frightening reality of the Government’s dystopian “Digital Duty of Care” Bill, the state of freedom of speech online both in Australia and around the world, and the dwindling support for the near defunct “climate change” scare narrative.

The @AlboMP government especially @AnikaWells are lying their asses off — “spreading disinformation!” — about why they want to censor and wage info war on their fellow citizens. They project their own stupidity on their fellow Aussies. It’s pathetic.

Most legendary speech ever spoken in the Australian senate 👏👏👏
Josh Frydenberg has just released a book on his time in politics and I quote: “At one point Morrison and I met senators Alex Antic and Gerard Rennick, who wanted the commonwealth to override state vaccination mandates, arguing they infringed civil liberties. They were insisting that they wouldn't vote on government bills as a result, making the already difficult task of getting bills through the Senate even more so. I shared Morrison's dismay. He offered various accommodations but they went nowhere. Eventually he snapped. "You're not giving me a way out here," he said. "You've got a hundred colleagues who think differently. If you think this way, you might as well resign." Afterwards he sounded disconsolate. "I feel like I'm walking on the top of a razor blade," ••••••••• And there you have it. The demise of the Liberal Party summed up in a few sentences. Millions of Australians had their civil liberties destroyed through the Covid era and only two Liberal politicians tried to stop it. Of course most of the cowards along with the media have backpedaled and tried to pretend they stood up to the madness at the time but as we well know they didn’t. I should also note none of our accommodations were met, although the threshold for claiming medical expenses was lowered to $1000 from $5000. Of course this had little impact given very few vaccine injured actually had their claims recognised. For what it’s worth I think Morrison also signing up to net zero with the cooperation of Barnaby Joyce (another gutless backpedaler) a few weeks before this meeting also contributed to the party demise. Morrison’s request that Alex or I have resigned from politics was not granted albeit I’m fighting on from the outside. Some things are worth fighting against, none more so than Government overreach. This is absolutely incredible.
When Bronte Gossling from @smh reached out to interview me for a hit piece, I recorded the phone call to expose the paper's hidden agendas and biased reporting. She was so exposed by this "interview" where I turned the tables that her hit piece never eventuated, and instead the nine newspapers had to rely on her colleague writing an op-ed hit job instead. The conclusion of the call is hilarious. When I ask "do you have any final words for my viewers?" - her response is priceless 🤭

Labor's Digital Duty of Care Bill is just a resuscitated version of their defeated mis and dis information bill. This bill is less about cyberbullying and more about restricting anything a Minister for Communications deems "seriously harmful" at a later date. Don't fall for the rhetoric. We must defeat this Bill. To hear more from me and stay up to date, signup to my email newsletter here: alexantic.com.au/join

🔴 JUST NOW. President Trump on the RAF Fairford incident - “How do you give bail to a TERRORIST?!" "These were serious people, seriously bad people. And they should not have done that." "I'm just disappointed that they caught terrorists, they did a good job, and then they sort of LET THEM GO! I don't know!" The Labour government once again embarrassing the UK on the world stage and potentially putting UK security at risk. . .
