This is devastating news. Danny was a pioneer in the High School Sports industry here in New England. He changed the lives of so many for the better, be it as a journalist, editor or during his days as a local coach. Ventura gave me my start with the Boston Herald in 2014. I had just completed an internship with the Daily Hampshire Gazette in Northampton and graduated from UMass. I was in search of my first real job in the journalistic industry, and sent some of my past articles out with the hopes of receiving an email. Danny called me directly in August of that summer, and told me to come to the Herald for an interview in the Seaport. He hired me days later. From that moment on, he became a mentor to myself, and he did the very same for so many other local writers just hoping to break into the industry. I will never forget the lessons he taught, nor will anyone else. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this time.
