DDOKO BRINGS THE DOGINAL DOGS COMMUNITY TOGETHER IN ANAMBRA
Anambra State takes the spotlight in Nigeria’s Web3 community calendar today as Bark Media Africa hosts DDOKO, a gathering bringing together members of the Doginal Dogs community and Web3 enthusiasts.
Scheduled for Golden View Hotel, Amaokpala, the event offers participants an opportunity to connect beyond the online timeline, exchange ideas and strengthen relationships within the ecosystem.
As Nigeria’s blockchain community continues to build its presence through physical meet-ups, DDOKO highlights the role of community-led events in connecting digital culture with real-world engagement.
AFRICA BLOCKCHAIN FESTIVAL CONCLUDES ITS NAIROBI PROGRAMME WITH A CONTINENTAL COMMUNITY GATHERING
The Africa Blockchain Festival enters its final scheduled day in Nairobi, Kenya, with a programme combining sport, networking and cultural experiences.
Activities include the Africa Connect Unity Games at Arena One, Valley Arcade, where teams representing East Africa, West Africa, North and South Africa, and a Global Select side compete in a series of football matches.
The programme also includes a trophy presentation, curated Nairobi experiences and an evening closing celebration. Following two days of discussions on investment, trusted digital-asset markets, artificial intelligence and blockchain development, the festival concludes by bringing participants together beyond the conference floor.
EDCON KUALA LUMPUR OPENS WITH ETHEREUM DISCUSSIONS ON PRIVACY, AI AND TOKENISATION
Ethereum developers, researchers and ecosystem participants gather in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as EDCON 2026 begins its two-day programme at Menara KEN TTDI.
The opening-day agenda includes discussions on practical transaction privacy, the social implications of artificial intelligence, parallel execution, shared liquidity and the convergence of traditional finance and decentralised finance through real-world asset tokenisation.
The gathering provides a platform for exploring how Ethereum and related technologies can support more capable decentralised applications, improve transaction experiences and connect blockchain infrastructure with established financial markets.
APEFEST 2026 BRINGS NFT CULTURE AND THE BORED APE COMMUNITY TO CHARLESTON
The Bored Ape Yacht Club community takes its celebrations offline today as ApeFest 2026 reaches its main event in Charleston, South Carolina.
The weekend programme features community gatherings, an official BAYC pop-up shop, a builders’ brunch, golf activities and other side events before the main festival opens at Beeple Studios.
Registration is scheduled for 18:00 local time, with doors opening at 19:00. The event reflects how NFT communities continue to develop real-world experiences around digital collectibles, shared identity and community participation.
ARM AND META BRING DEVELOPERS TOGETHER FOR AN EDGE AI HACKATHON
Developers gather at San Francisco State University for the Arm + ExecuTorch Edge AI Challenge, a two-day hackathon running from 17–18 October.
The challenge focuses on building generative AI applications that run directly on devices rather than relying entirely on cloud infrastructure. Participants will work with Arm-powered hardware and Meta’s ExecuTorch framework to develop and test on-device AI applications.
Although the event is not exclusively blockchain-focused, its emphasis on local computing, efficient AI deployment and reduced dependence on cloud infrastructure intersects with wider discussions about privacy, decentralised systems and autonomous applications.
EDGE CITY INDIA CONTINUES ITS EXPERIMENT IN COLLABORATIVE TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNITY BUILDING
Edge City India continues its extended gathering in Goa, bringing together founders, researchers, engineers, scientists and creatives for collaborative work around emerging technologies and new approaches to community living.
The first week's programme, concluding on 17 October, focuses on “Environments of Tomorrow”, including urban development, energy, climate, food systems and education.
The wider gathering runs through 1 November, with later programmes exploring longevity, artificial intelligence, decentralised technologies, governance and hackathons. Its format emphasises sustained collaboration, workshops and community-led experiments rather than the short interactions typical of conventional conferences.
CURRENTBLOCK WATCH

Wednesday; Stablecoin Regulation Tightens as Institutional Blockchain Adoption Expands
What’s Coming Up Today...
EUROPEAN BANKING AUTHORITY CLASSIFIES USDC AS A SIGNIFICANT E-MONEY TOKEN
The European Banking Authority (EBA) has classified Circle’s USDC as the European Union’s first significant e-money token under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).
The classification introduces additional supervisory oversight, with the EBA set to assume direct responsibility for areas including reserves, liquidity and recovery arrangements from November 12. France’s ACPR will retain oversight of governance and other organisational matters.
The decision marks an important development for stablecoin regulation in Europe as dollar-pegged digital assets continue to serve payments and financial markets.
POLYGON COMPLETES COINME ACQUISITION TO EXPAND REGULATED US PAYMENTS
Polygon Labs has completed its acquisition of Coinme, strengthening the regulated payments infrastructure behind its Open Money Stack.
The acquisition adds access to money-transmission licences and exemptions across 48 US states, according to Polygon. Tazapay, Mesh, Toku and Kira are among the first customers adopting the platform.
The move supports Polygon’s strategy to connect traditional payment channels with blockchain settlement, bringing fiat access, stablecoins and onchain transfers into a more integrated payments system.
PAYWARD AGREES TO ACQUIRE SALDO BANK IN EUROPEAN BANKING EXPANSION
Payward, the parent company of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Saldo Finance Oy, whose subsidiary, Saldo Bank UAB, operates under a Lithuanian banking licence.
The proposed acquisition could extend Payward’s regulated financial infrastructure across five European markets, supporting services such as deposits, lending, card issuance and SEPA payments.
The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval, with completion expected in 2027. It reflects the growing convergence between cryptocurrency platforms and traditional banking services.
RIPPLE PARTNERS DRIVEWEALTH TO CONNECT BLOCKCHAIN INFRASTRUCTURE WITH GLOBAL INVESTING
Ripple and DriveWealth have announced a partnership aimed at modernising how money moves and settles across global investing infrastructure.
The collaboration brings together digital-asset custody, stablecoins, payments, liquidity and prime brokerage capabilities. The companies aim to address the delays and funding requirements associated with moving money across borders and settling investment transactions.
The partnership highlights how blockchain infrastructure is increasingly being explored for financial operations beyond cryptocurrency trading.
RIPPLE AND MERITZ SECURITIES TARGET TOKENISATION IN SOUTH KOREA’S CAPITAL MARKETS
Ripple has entered a strategic partnership with South Korean securities firm Meritz Securities to explore institutional digital-asset custody and tokenisation.
The collaboration will initially operate within Meritz’s existing securities business and applicable regulations, with plans to expand as South Korea’s digital-asset framework develops.
Areas under exploration include tokenised securities, fractional investments, spot exchange-traded funds and Korean-won-denominated stablecoins. The partnership adds to Ripple’s growing institutional presence in South Korea.
STANDARD CHARTERED PUSHES $2 TRILLION STABLECOIN MARKET FORECAST TO 2030
Standard Chartered has revised its forecast for the stablecoin market to reach $2 trillion, moving the expected milestone from 2028 to 2030 as supply growth slows.
The bank estimates that stablecoin supply has remained within the $300 billion–$320 billion range over the past year. However, transaction activity continues to grow, with monthly transfer value averaging nearly $10 trillion in 2026, compared with approximately $4 trillion in 2025.
The revised forecast highlights a developing distinction in the market: stablecoin adoption can expand through increased transaction activity even when the total supply grows more slowly.
TABCONF SPOTLIGHTS BITCOIN DEVELOPMENT, QUANTUM SECURITY AND EMERGING APPLICATIONS
TABConf 8 continues in Atlanta, bringing Bitcoin developers and infrastructure builders together for technical discussions and workshops.
Wednesday’s programme includes sessions examining Bitcoin’s role in election integrity, application-layer development and quantum-resistant transaction designs. The conference also features an acceleration programme exploring how artificial intelligence could help developers build new Bitcoin applications.
The gathering continues through Thursday, 15 October, with its organisers describing this as the final edition of TABConf.
AFRICA BLOCKCHAIN FESTIVAL OPENS ITS NAIROBI PROGRAMME WITH INDUSTRY WELCOME MIXER
The Africa Blockchain Festival begins its opening activities in Nairobi with an evening welcome mixer hosted by Passpoint at The Social House.
The gathering precedes the main three-day programme, scheduled for 15–17 October at the Sarit Expo Centre. This year’s agenda focuses on capital, blockchain development and building a sustainable digital economy across Africa.
The festival brings together founders, investors, developers and industry stakeholders as the continent continues exploring blockchain infrastructure, digital assets and emerging technology applications.
👀 CURRENTBLOCK WATCH
Wednesday’s developments highlight three important shifts across the decentralised world.
Regulators are tightening oversight of major stablecoins. Financial institutions are exploring blockchain infrastructure for payments, custody and capital markets. Meanwhile, Bitcoin developers continue investigating security, scalability and new applications.
With Africa’s blockchain community preparing to convene in Nairobi, attention is also turning to how these technologies can support investment, innovation and practical digital infrastructure across emerging markets.

STARKNET'S SCHEDULED TOKEN RELEASE PUTS VESTING ALLOCATIONS UNDER WATCH
Starknet's STRK token appears on today's unlock calendars, with third-party trackers listing a scheduled release associated with team and investor allocations. Published estimates vary considerably, so the amount and dollar value require confirmation against the underlying vesting contracts. The scheduled event does not establish that tokens have been transferred or sold.
ALAYA AI'S TOKEN SCHEDULE PUTS REWARDS AND INVESTOR ALLOCATIONS IN FOCUS
Alaya AI's AGT token also appears on today's vesting calendars, with releases attributed to user rewards, community reserves, ecosystem funding and investor-related allocations. Tracker estimates differ on the amounts and timing, making on-chain verification important before drawing conclusions about the impact on circulating supply.
CYBERCONNECT PREPARES A SCHEDULED RELEASE OF CYBER TOKENS
CyberConnect's CYBER token has a scheduled release today, with third-party trackers estimating approximately 511,000 tokens across community, ecosystem and developer allocations. The release is relatively small compared with total supply, but subsequent wallet activity will determine whether it has any meaningful effect on circulating supply or market liquidity.

What's coming up today....
Tuesday; Shardeum enters its mainnet upgrade window, Unichain prepares for a cross-chain infrastructure shift, and Enugu Blockchain Week is cancelled.
SHARDEUM ENTERS MAINNET UPGRADE WINDOW AS VALIDATORS PREPARE FOR A NETWORK TRANSITION
Shardeum's approved v1.1.0 mainnet upgrade is scheduled for block height 7,927,860, with an estimated activation time of 06:00 UTC today. The upgrade brings Shardeum's EVM implementation back into alignment with Cosmos EVM v0.6.3 and incorporates security fixes carried forward from its previous release.
The transition requires coordinated action from validators and node operators because the update includes a state migration. A temporary network halt is expected while the upgrade is applied. Shardeum's published documentation still lists the scheduled upgrade, but confirmation of successful completion remains outstanding.
UNICHAIN'S PLANNED TESTNET MIGRATION MOVES OP STACK INTEROPERABILITY CLOSER
Uniswap Labs has scheduled Unichain's migration to OP Enterprise for today, marking a step towards native interoperability across OP Stack networks. The move is intended to prepare Unichain for asset transfers between participating chains without relying on traditional bridges.
The planned migration preserves Unichain's chain ID, contracts, balances and existing Uniswap deployments. Mainnet migration is scheduled for 29 October, with native interoperability expected to follow as the infrastructure becomes available.
ENUGU BLOCKCHAIN WEEK 2026 CANCELLED, ORGANISERS APOLOGISE TO THE COMMUNITY
Enugu Blockchain Week, which had been scheduled to run from 13–17 October in Enugu, Nigeria, has been cancelled, according to a notice published by its organisers. The team apologised to registered participants, partners and community members who had made plans to attend, adding that a new date would be announced for 2027.
The cancellation removes one of Nigeria's planned regional Web3 gatherings from this week's calendar. The event had been positioned as a platform for developers, founders, students and communities to connect through workshops, hackathons and educational sessions.
PEAQ AND SEI FEATURE IN TUESDAY'S SCHEDULED TOKEN-UNLOCK CALENDAR
Token-unlock trackers list scheduled releases for PEAQ and SEI today. Estimates differ between platforms, particularly around the quantities attributed to individual vesting allocations, so the figures should be treated as calendar estimates rather than confirmed on-chain transfers.
Scheduled unlocks can increase the amount of tokens available to recipients, but they do not by themselves establish that tokens have been sold or that market prices will fall. Subsequent wallet movements and exchange flows provide a clearer picture of any market impact.
CURRENTBLOCK WATCH
Shardeum's network transition, Unichain's interoperability roadmap and the cancellation of Enugu Blockchain Week headline Tuesday's developments, while token-unlock calendars keep PEAQ and SEI in focus.

What's coming up today...
SUI COMMITS $30 MILLION TO DATA NETWORK AS AI TRAINING DATA MOVES ONCHAIN
Sui Foundation has announced a $30 million strategic investment in DATA Network, alongside plans to migrate the protocol to Sui and make Walrus its default data-storage layer.
The move brings Trace, DATA Network's registry for AI training data and usage rights, into the Sui ecosystem. The system is designed to help AI developers verify where datasets originate, establish licensing rights and preserve evidence of the data used to train models.
The migration will retire DATA Network's independent chain once the transition is complete. Existing DATA tokens are expected to move to Sui on a one-to-one basis, with holder economics and governance rights preserved under the announced plan. A detailed migration timeline is still pending.
TABCONF OPENS ITS FINAL EDITION WITH A FOCUS ON BITCOIN'S TECHNICAL FUTURE
TABConf 8 opens today at Georgia Tech Exhibition Hall in Atlanta, bringing Bitcoin developers together for two days of builder activities and workshops before the main conference sessions begin.
The programme covers Bitcoin protocol development, wallet infrastructure, open-source tooling, privacy, security and emerging applications. Sessions also explore how AI coding agents are changing software development and how developers can build infrastructure for a more decentralised financial system.
Organisers have confirmed that this will be the conference's final edition, making this week's gathering a significant moment for its developer community.
PARADIGM FRONTIERS BRINGS ETHEREUM BUILDERS AND RESEARCHERS TO SAN FRANCISCO
Paradigm Frontiers begins today and runs through 14 October, combining conference programming with a hackathon for participants working across the Ethereum ecosystem.
The event creates a space for developers, researchers and founders to explore technical challenges, experiment with new applications and exchange ideas about the next generation of decentralised infrastructure.
Its programme places technical collaboration and building alongside discussions about emerging technologies and the future of Ethereum.
PUMP.FUN FACES A SCHEDULED TOKEN RELEASE AS SUPPLY WATCH INTENSIFIES
Pump.fun's PUMP token appears on today's vesting calendars, with third-party trackers reporting a scheduled release to investors and insiders.
However, the reported quantities differ between trackers, so the final amount and its dollar value should be treated cautiously. A scheduled unlock makes tokens available under the vesting arrangement; it does not prove that recipients have sold them or transferred them to exchanges.
Market participants will be watching subsequent wallet movements and trading activity for evidence of any material effect on circulating supply.
UNICHAIN'S INTEROPERABILITY UPGRADE MOVES CLOSER TO TESTNET
Uniswap Labs' plan to migrate Unichain to OP Enterprise is approaching its first major milestone, with the testnet migration scheduled for 13 October.
The upgrade is designed to prepare Unichain for native interoperability with other OP Stack networks, potentially allowing assets to move between participating chains without relying on traditional bridges.
The migration is not scheduled for today. Mainnet is planned for 29 October, while the broader interoperability rollout remains an upcoming development.

The scheduled allocation includes private investors, public investors, insiders and community recipients. However, independent trackers report materially different figures for actual on-chain releases, so the calendar estimate should not be treated as proof that the entire amount has entered circulation.

DappOS (DOS) has a scheduled release of approximately 14.58 million tokens, while Linea’s community allocation also appears on today’s unlock calendars. CTNG DIVIDED OVER $PINK AS RIVAL X SPACES CLASH OVER TRUST
Crypto Twitter Nigeria (CTNG) has been divided following the sharp decline of the $PINK memecoin, with accusations against the owner @web3righteous sparking a wider debate over trust, influencer-led launches and the risks of meme tokens.
$PINK, launched on Pons at a low market capitalisation, reportedly climbed from around $5,000 to nearly $90,000 before falling sharply. The decline led to allegations that the launch involved a coordinated group and that the token was rugged. Neither claim has been independently established.
In a public clarification, @web3righteous denied both allegations, saying she promoted the token at around a $5,000 market capitalisation and did not buy or sell it herself. She described the launch as a “social experiment”, said her creator-fee earnings were below $600 after costs, and directed critics towards the on-chain record.
The dispute subsequently moved into two competing X Spaces. @Cryptoceleb1 hosted “PINK TOKEN RUGGED, WHICH TOKEN IS NEXT”, framing the episode as a warning about community-driven launches, while @BigSultan0 hosted “Y’all are newbies joor”, arguing that critics were applying conventional project expectations to a highly speculative meme market.
The controversy comes amid a wider wave of CTNG-linked tokens, including $GARRI, $PINK, $BANGER and $AFRO, with attention moving rapidly between launches. While supporters view the activity as part of CTNG's growing meme culture, critics have questioned whether later buyers are being left exposed as attention and liquidity shift.
For now, the public record establishes the launch, its subsequent decline, the allegations, the promoter's denial and the competing community reactions. Whether $PINK constituted a rug or involved coordinated activity remains unresolved and would require evidence from the relevant on-chain transactions and wallets.

CTNG’S LATEST TOKEN WAVE SPARKS DEBATE
Crypto Twitter Nigeria (CTNG) has been discussing a wave of creator-linked meme tokens following the recent attention around $GARRI, launched by Nigerian creator @degenBRO__.
The token is built around the familiar Nigerian staple "garri", the token quickly gained attention on the timeline, with public market trackers showing a sharp rise in activity before a subsequent decline.
The attention was soon followed by other creator-associated tokens, including $PINK, $BANGER, $NAZIM and $AFRO, shifting the conversation from one token’s performance to a wider debate over competition and collaboration within CTNG.
Some community members have questioned whether multiple launches could divide attention and liquidity, while others view the trend as evidence that creators can now participate more directly in on-chain markets.
Claims about individual motives, token allocations or selling activity remain matters that require verifiable evidence and should not be treated as established facts based solely on social-media commentary.
Beyond the individual tokens, the episode highlights how quickly a culturally familiar idea can spread across CTNG and has reopened a broader conversation about creator-led launches, community coordination and the growing intersection between social influence and on-chain markets.
