Last week, a student walked up to me and said, “Dr., what are you searching for in this life? You look so tired. You need rest.” This is a student I barely know. Yet, from our conversation, it was obvious that she had been paying attention to me for some time. I have been thinking about her question ever since. Since 2016, I have not had a proper vacation. My university breaks were spent mooting and working to raise money to support my education. Then came law school, practice, my master’s and my doctorate. Now I’m teaching and practising. There has always been something else to do. Yesterday, I drove all the way to Nkawkaw for a case, returned to Accra and went straight into the classroom to teach. It was in that class that, for the first time in my life, I felt my body telling me to shut down. It scared me. Somewhere along the way, I seem to have become very good at making time for everything except rest. It took a student I barely know to make me pause and notice. So, I need a break. And having given the matter serious consideration, I cannot think of a better place to rest than on a beach in Greece. If you are reading this, you are duty-bound to make it happen. The precise legal basis of that duty will be supplied upon request. 🤓 But seriously, let’s take care of our health. We should not have to reach our limits before giving ourselves permission to rest.

The energy and cunningness required for cheating is absolutely not worth it.

Add your cheating partner as a collaborator and drop messages for each other there. Main partner won’t think to check on there as it’s not a social media app. Also Notes App accept a variety of media inputs, so you can actually send “stuff” on there.

Imagine you helped him and it didn’t work out the way he wanted, he’d try to ruin your business. Good riddance!

What a day to be a Ho Poly Alumnus
People with master's degrees from Harvard are not on social media educating freely, raising awareness, demanding accountability, and calling for reforms. They hold well-paying government roles and make a lot of money. Don't think we are foolish. Don't think we lack qualifications. Don't think your preferred politicians are better than us. We chose to live this way. Don't think you know better. You don't!

Yet you people won’t address your problems, it is innocent lawyers you keep piling on lmao.
Becoming a Professional Engineer goes beyond getting an engineering degree. You need at least three years of relevant work experience, a career report, professional exams, and an oral interview before you can earn the Engr. or Ing. title. In Ghana, the Engineering Council recognises two professional bodies for licensing engineers: GhIE and IET-GH. Unfortunately, many engineering graduates do not know much about the registration process. Even those who know about it often struggle to start because they lack guidance or connections with Professional Engineers. Applicants also need at least two Professional Engineers to endorse their forms. The whole process is also expensive, costing close to GH₵4,000 or more, depending on the professional body(Registration, Exams, Induction and dues). On top of that, some engineering graduates struggle to find jobs after their National Service. Others end up working in fields unrelated to engineering, making it difficult to gain the experience needed for professional registration.

Please, the government isn’t sharing law school forms or sponsoring people to law school. People are going to law school on their own. Free us with this “we” “we” business.
Last one: since 2019-2026 we have graduated 7000 lawyers. But we don’t see the impacts on our legal system and economy. They are more corrupt than the citizens. 😒

Someone had to say it. I often see Kwadwo Sheldon and others relying on these fake research claims to make derogatory remarks against his own people. To me, without even substantive investigation, these claims seem deeply Eurocentric and driven by particular ideological aims. The IQ test itself is not a solid identifier of anything [I am a pessimist on this subject]. The Bell Curve Research flaws have exposed how these sociological IQ claims are often biased, unjustified, and drawn inductively to further racial and ethnic based prejudices. But if a Ghanaian isn't taught how to do research throughout his education, or required to do it before earning a degree, he is ill-equipped to investigate these things. Not their fault. And in a society where reliance on AI is growing deeply, we have a problem on our hands.
You sometimes see a table claiming that African countries, including Ghana, have the lowest IQs in the world. The most widely shared version is on Business Insider Africa. Business Insider cites CEOWORLD magazine. CEOWORLD did not test anyone. Its figures match, to two decimal places, a 2019 dataset compiled by Richard Lynn and David Becker. Now look at what is inside that dataset. Sierra Leone's score of 45 rests on one study from 1966. Mali's rests on a single sample. South Sudan's comes from refugee children. Ghana's 58.16 appears to be the average of a small set of test samples and Ghana's TIMSS school assessment scores, rescaled and relabelled as IQ. An IQ below 70 is the usual threshold for intellectual disability. A national average of 58 would mean most Ghanaians could not hold a job, run a business or raise a family. Anyone who has spent a day in Accra knows that is absurd. The dataset's own author agrees there is a problem. Becker wrote in 2019 that differences between countries scoring below 60 are more likely measurement error than real differences in intelligence. He also wrote that the dataset is not suitable for comparing two individual countries. The dataset was never peer reviewed, which Becker himself calls a weak point. Yet researchers used it in published papers for years, because reviewers check the analysis, not the data underneath. In 2024, academics called for several of those papers to be retracted. That is how a zombie statistic is made. Lynn and Becker becomes "a study". The study becomes "CEOWORLD". CEOWORLD becomes "Business Insider". Each step adds a more respectable name and no new evidence. Then it turns up in social media arguments as settled fact. Before you share a ranking, ask three questions. Who collected the data? How many people were measured, and when? Does the number survive a basic sanity check?
