Hero
My salute to the Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar for his extraordinary bravery.
Despite being stabbed and seriously injured, he fought back, resisted, opened the cockpit door, and enabled passengers and crew to overpower the attacker — preventing a catastrophic mid-air disaster.
He saved the lives of 174 people, including Israeli citizens and other nationals.
I wish Captain Machchhar a speedy and full recovery.
He is a true hero.
This is disgraceful. The amount of friends I have heard who couldn’t even find a synagogue in SF while visiting over the holidays was disturbing. Jewish Americans were founding partners in San Fransisco and Silicon Valley, no one should have to hide or face discrimination

Nvidia’s OpenShell announcement is a reminder that agent safety is an engineering problem.
Recent breakouts weren’t proof that development must stop. They were proof that the sandbox was too weak. The runtime environment was poorly designed and misconfigured.
The right response is open runtime isolation, control of the path to the model, out-of-band hardware enforcement, and a faster pace of safety work with the frontier labs.
As the technical blog puts it: “We believe we need to increase the pace of AI safety research and engineering in collaboration with frontier labs and the broader community.”
That’s how you earn trust. Not by virtue-signaling a pause, and not by acting like no solution exists.
Today, with over 100 industry partners, we introduced the NVIDIA Open Agent Safety Platform, bringing together OpenShell and Sentry.
Artificial intelligence is extraordinary technology that will advance discovery, productivity, security, health, and prosperity for generations to come.
But its full promise can only be realized when people have confidence that AI is being built to be safe and deployed with wisdom and responsibility.
This is bigger than a single product. It's the beginning of an open ecosystem to build the trust layer for safe agent systems.
Together, we are building the foundation of the AI economy.
Trust and innovation are not in conflict. Safety is how trust is earned. We must build not only the most capable AI, but the most trusted AI, so that this extraordinary technology can realize its enormous promise for the world. nvda.ws/4hcoq7m

Our new paper predicts useful entanglement rates for modular quantum computing with QS-LINK, Quantum Source’s photonic interconnect, even when successful photon delivery is rare.
The approach also removes the need for identical photon waveforms, easing a demanding requirement for connecting quantum processors built on different physical platforms.
Connecting quantum processors offers a way to scale beyond the limits of a single processor. But to execute a shared computation, they need a continuing supply of entanglement. How quickly they receive it determines how quickly they can perform computation together.
In conventional two-photon interconnect protocols, each processor sends a photon entangled with its communication qubit. Both photons must arrive and be detected in the same attempt. When photon delivery is inefficient, requiring two successes together makes entanglement generation much slower.
QS-LINK’s proposed protocol removes that requirement using a single atom as a quantum memory.
After the first photon interacts with the atom and is detected, the atom preserves entanglement with the first processor’s communication qubit while the second processor keeps trying. Once the second photon interacts with the atom and is detected, measuring the atom leaves the processors entangled. The two successful deliveries can therefore happen in separate attempts.
Because each photon interacts separately with the atom, the photons do not need to interfere with each other. Their pulse shapes can therefore differ, making the protocol particularly attractive for connecting different types of QPUs.
Using realistic parameters targeted for QS-LINK in the near term, our model predicts useful entanglement rates while requiring far fewer photon-generation attempts per second from each QPU than conventional two-photon protocols. These predictions account for both photons lost before detection and storage errors.

Every news story follows a predictable decay function- it peaks, then is soon forgotten. That is, every story except one: Israel. I analyzed 14.7 million news articles in 65 languages, cable news airtime, and social media data from X. The results were staggering. 🧵

On October 7, Palestinian terrorists broke into 17-year-old Tomer Eliaz-Arava’s home in kibbutz Nahal Oz.
They held his family at gunpoint and took his mother Dikla’s phone, livestreaming the horror from her Facebook account.
Then they took Tomer from his mother and forced him, at gunpoint, to go door to door, trying to lure his neighbors out of their safe rooms.
But Tomer tried to save them. He stayed calm and deliberately told the terrorists that some homes were empty, keeping them away from his neighbors and saving lives.
His mother, Dikla, was abducted toward Gaza and later murdered.
Tomer was later found dead.
In 2025, Tomer was posthumously awarded the Israeli Presidential Medal for Civilian Heroism for his courage and for saving lives on October 7

We're publishing our most detailed threat intelligence report to date.
It covers how people tried to misuse Claude—for cyberattacks, influence operations, surveillance, biology, and building weapons—and how we found and stopped them.
We disrupted every operation in the report, and used the lessons from them to strengthen our safeguards. Where appropriate, we also shared what we found with authorities and other AI companies.
These cases are not typical: we’re highlighting some of the most sophisticated misuse we’ve seen. But they’re especially important to discuss, because they show us where AI misuse is headed, where our safeguards work, and where they need to improve.
We’re publishing this report so others can spot the same activity on their own platforms, and so we can give the public a clearer view of how emerging threats develop.

Cybersecurity is backgammon, not chess.
It’s tempting to treat cybersecurity like a game of chess, expecting that absolute control and flawless calculation will guarantee a win. However, the reality of managing supply chain dependencies, unpredictable attackers, and hidden vulnerabilities means that you never actually possess "perfect information". A much better analogy is backgammon, a game of stochastic risk management where success comes from positioning yourself to handle the uncertainty of the dice rolls.

Excited to share our new @arxiv paper!
In this work we demonstrated deterministic trapping of a single ultracold Rb atom only 150-200 nm from a planar photonic integrated resonator, with strong atom-photon coupling, and Purcell-enhanced photon emission, coupled directly to the photonic chip.
The key ingredient is a near-surface “crash-cushion” loading mechanism based on an evanescent optical field, enabling efficient capture of individual atoms on a scalable photonic chip.
This demonstrates the vast potential of integrated photonic platforms for quantum networks and deterministic atom-photon operations on chip!
