BREAKING NEWS: The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals blocked the Texas Education Agency on Wednesday from enforcing a state law requiring booksellers to rate the explicitness and relevance of sexual references in materials they sell to schools. ow.ly/tbV750QrUI2

Appeals court blocks Texas from enforcing book rating law

Plaintiffs claimed that the 2023 law, which required book vendors to rate the explicitness of sexual references in materials sold to schools, was unconstitutionally broad.

The Governor has called for vouchers for all. With over 1 million students already in homeschool & private schools, it could cost up to $8 billion yearly. 90% of students are in public school, & they deserve full funding before diverting taxpayer $$$ for private school subsidies.

It is beyond comprehension the state of TX has a record surplus and yet, we will start the 23-24 school year with no adjustment to our basic allotment. We've been through a pandemic , inflation and a staff shortage and yet, asked to do more with less.

Texans oppose any form of vouchers, also called education savings accounts, that use taxpayer dollars to subsidize private schools and vendors. Tell your legislator that public dollars should remain in public schools. p2a.co/9qC39Ns #TxEd #vOUCHersHurt #TxLege

I don’t know how many times I have to post this: “I know you think you are protecting children, Jared Patterson, but the biggest help would come from modeling for children appropriate behavior. Hard to stop bullying when the adults act like bullies.” #txlege
