In his 40 years in the game, Spike has always been outspoken and unfortunately all it ever did was get him labeled as “angry” and he had (and HAS) to deal with the politics of it all behind the scenes.
FYI: When Spike ran out of funding for Malcolm X and WB shut down production, he tapped famous Black folks to get it done and then did a press conference calling out the establishment and flexed that he’s getting the film made without their help.
He’s been paying for that ever since.
