ANDURIL UNVEILS MISSILE TARGETING ONE-THIRD THE COST OF PATRIOT’S PAC-3 MSE Anduril introduced Steelfin, a family of surface-to-air interceptors designed to counter drones, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and hypersonic threats. The system uses a common design with interchangeable boosters, guidance systems and other components. Anduril says different variants can share a production line, allowing manufacturing to shift as military demand changes. The missiles are being designed to work with existing Patriot and naval launch infrastructure, alongside established military fire-control systems, rather than requiring an entirely new air-defense system. Most major components are expected to be manufactured at Anduril’s Arsenal-1 facility in Ohio, with partners handling final assembly. Full-rate production is targeted for late 2028 or early 2029, potentially reaching thousands of missiles annually depending on demand. Anduril President Chris Brose said existing interceptors are “not able to match the volume of the threat that they’re facing,” highlighting the need for weapons that can be produced more affordably and at greater scale. Steelfin remains in development. Anduril has completed ballistic testing with representative vehicles, but flight testing of the missile variants is scheduled to begin in 2027.
