At a deep level, I don't respect when people on this app who purport to be "Christian" speak with contempt. Those things are utterly incompatible.
They might have interesting or laudable policy positions. They might be insightful in areas. I might agree with their stance on this or that. But, like Paul says in I Corinthians 13, they're ultimately clanging cymbals.
Jesus couldn't have been more clear about this in the Sermon on the Mount. He equates contempt with murder. Yet somehow, in the public square, professing believers have decided it's simply what they have to do.
It might stretch you a bit as a thinker, but you can make your point decisively, clearly, and pointedly without contempt. If you can't figure out another, better way to engage, maybe have someone help you.
People who go with stuff like "morons", "retards", or--just saw this one from @mattwalshblog, for example--"despicable freak"...? What they're doing is not only embarrassing, it's truly missing the point.
“Grant me serenity to accept things
The things I cannot change
Grant me the courage, Lord, to change what I can
Wisdom to know the difference
In my weakness You can shine
In Your strength I can fly and
You make everything, everything beautiful…” @RebeccaStJames #trustGod
Praise the LORD!
Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,

and his righteousness endures forever. ~Psalm 112:1-3

~Habakkuk 3:18-19
“Help us not see greater value in the gifts You give
And not become distracted from their intended desires
May we regard the world and all that is in it
As nothing compared to the satisfaction of knowing our Messiah”

My soul melts away for sorrow; strengthen me according to Your word!
Put false ways far from me
and graciously teach me Your law!
I have chosen the way of faithfulness;
I set Your rules before me.
I cling to Your testimonies, O LORD;
let me not be put to shame!
“For the Lord God loves mercy and truth; He will give grace and glory; The Lord’s hand will not remove good things from those who walk in innocence. O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man who hopes in You.” ~#Psalm 84:12-13
“Completely known, completely loved
I’m covered by my Savior’s blood
I’m robed in white & God is pleased
To see His Son, when Hе looks on me
Completely His, how can it bе?
That God would set His heart on me
Loved not for works that I have done
But long before time had begun.”
“Hope in the Lord, and work goodness; dwell in the land, and you shall be nurtured by its riches. Delight in the Lord, and He will give you the requests of your heart. Reveal your way to the Lord, and hope in Him; and He will do it.” #Psalm 37:3-5 #followHim #desirewhatHedesires
