BREAKING: Iran's Foreign Minister Araghchi is now leaving New York for Tehran earlier than expected, with no talks and no breakthrough, per initial reports and a senior Iranian source.
Araghchi already told IRNA hours ago that he would "fly toward Tehran in a few hours" and denied reports he was extending his stay for talks with the US.

NEW: While Trump says he has rejected Iran's 7-day plan to reopen Hormuz and initiate talks on a final deal, Iran says it is waiting for mediators to deliver Washington’s response.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, two informed sources with knowledge of proceedings tell @amwajmedia that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with a senior Qatari official in New York in the early afternoon local time today.
While some reports allege that mediators in a last-ditch effort have suggested that Tehran frontload nuclear-related concessions to get buy-in from Trump, one of the Iranian sources said no such proposal has been made. In the absence of any discernible progress, the second source alleged, Araghchi is likely to imminently depart from New York.
The apparent deadlock comes as there is a push-and-pull between Iran and the US over the state of shipping via Hormuz, with Iranian media alleging that more than a dozen vessels have been targeted in the past 48 hours.

Iranian officials have privately expressed pessimism about reaching a deal to end hostilities with the US and reopen the Strait of Hormuz before the midterm elections in November, according to people familiar with the matter.
Iran and the US made little progress during talks in New York at the United Nations General Assembly last week and Iran believes there’s a high chance of the conflict escalating after the Nov. 3 vote, according to the people, some of whom were briefed by Iranian officials.
The main mediators are seeking something different from the Memorandum of Understanding signed by Iran and the US in mid-June.
The US has told mediators it wants Iran to make firm commitments on reopening the strait this time around and to make concessions regarding its nuclear program, two of the people said.
Iran officials have consistently said they are willing to pursue diplomacy but do not trust Donald Trump to abide by the terms of any agreement. The White House has similar feelings of distrust toward Tehran and Trump has previously said he doubts any deal can be reached before the midterms.
There will not be a deal with Iran unless issues regarding the country’s nuclear program are addressed, according to one US official. Trump is willing to give Iran sanctions relief and release frozen funds in exchange for concrete progress on nuclear, the official said.

It makes sense that the 5 men arrested were out stealing red diesel from vulnerable farm bowsers. Thefts of farm diesel are up over 300% in 2026 as the diesel price shot up after Trump-Netanyahu's elective war against Iran.
The fake fuel company signage would be good cover for diesel thieves. Oil barrels in the vans are also consistent with fuel thefts. Pumps for emptying farm bowsers were probably found as well.
Just some London lads nicking diesel from vulnerable farms would explain the early release on bail while the media hyperventilation about terrorism continues.
The situation regarding yesterday's incident in Whelford is really confusing at the moment, so I will try to shed some light on it.
There are several possibilities, but to me, the most likely scenario is that these five men were actually fuel thieves, this would explain the trucks bearing the markings of a fake fuel delivery company, which would have served as their cover story had the police searched one of their vans.
This is likely what the British police believe as well, otherwise, had the investigation pointed toward a possible terrorist attack on RAF Fairford, they would not have been released on bail, as they would have been detained for two weeks.
The worst-case scenario, which I hope is not the case, is that the men's actual plan remains uncertain, yet British counter-terrorism police have released them, creating a risk that they could indeed pose a threat to national security.
