I spoke to @BBCBreakfast this morning on the cancer crisis. Most days I swing from mad fury at the state of our health service and the lack of action to address it… to abject terror of what it means for me and those I love. Things need to change!
This morning, Laura spoke to BBC Breakfast about the barriers people are facing to cancer diagnosis. With over half of people not being treated swiftly, we need radical action and radical change! So what does change look like?   Here’s the clip:   youtu.be/vtPBsLag0kk 1/

One step forward…? Going to get in touch with the private secretary team today to find out next steps… Any ideas what happens when a Health Secretary leaves? Does everything start from scratch again? I have no idea!
Really pleased to meet @sajidjavid last week …when he was Health Secretary(!) He was passionate about speeding up cancer diagnosis, listened to our 5 calls for change, and planned to introduce us to decision-makers & his policy team to implement our patient-led recommendations.

Hi @WhatsApp - is there any way you could please add the functionality of creating different areas on WhatsApp - so I can group all my ‘work’ convos or ‘campaigning’ convos or ‘family’ convos into one area? The only area option currently is the archive! Thanks

Hi @TrevorBevins, Could you possibly share your email with me or DM please? It’s about an early cancer diagnosis campaign in Dorset. THANK YOU!

“I overheard a nurse saying there were no ‘real patients’ in A&E that night… I was sent home feeling guilty for wasting their time.” This is a shocking read, but no surprise. It’s why my sister’s dead. @_1aura doing amazing work to bring change. #Cancer theguardian.com/society/2022…

While people wait for a cancer diagnosis, there are far too many barriers to help. Often, you receive little support and even less information - which can cause huge delays to treatment. I wrote something for the HSJ on what needs to be done about it: hsj.co.uk/quality-and-perfor…

My @Telegraph piece today on how personal relationships & good communication are integral to cancer care, yet have been repeatedly undermined. It’s crucial that @sajidjavid listens to us on the frontline - the patients - to hear where the issues lie preview.telegraph.co.uk/news…
I've been in a two year battle with @ScottishPower. They continue to hound me to pay bills for a flat I moved out of & threaten me with debt collectors. A deeply unpleasant organisation and one I'd recommend people stay well clear of. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-5…

Hi Twitter, is anyone a primary care policy bod who might spare a couple of minutes for a 'what happens if...?' type question please?
Looking for recommendations please! We don't use Instagram very much for Mission Remission and we're looking to change that. We're planning to use the stories etc. for campaigning (but I'm a total Insta newb.) Can you recommend anyone over there who you like to follow?

When I waited 15 months for a cancer diagnosis, I had no idea how to speed up my treatment. Since then, I've found something that might have helped.👇👇 If you know someone worried about signs of cancer - please share this symptom diary with them! dailymail.co.uk/health/artic…

Keeping a diary of your symptoms before an appointment could help prevent doctors missing vital signs, says writer @_1aura founder of @mission_rem (whose cancer went undiagnosed because she was ‘too young’) dailymail.co.uk/health/artic…

'Rather than rail at the injustice...there's a practical solution: a symptom diary. It sounds simple, but by logging bodily changes, you can share concrete evidence with your doctor that something isn’t right.' We're in the Mail today! How symptom diaries can speed up diagnosis!

Deathbeds. Some thoughts. A thread. Most of us haven't seen somebody die in real life. We get our inner pictures from TV dramas, cinema screens, media stories. We've had more of those media stories than usual during Covid19. But we haven't been there for real. 1/n

This is a truly dreadful piece of comms. These ‘populist attacks’ online are tweets by women terrified of facing labour alone and being separated from their partners and babies after birth. These needs must be listened to, not silenced. sor.org/news/sor-demands-nhs…

Yes, no-one should face abuse of any kind, but this abuse is borne of desperation and fear, not a social media campaign. The problem is with NHS policies that treat fathers as visitors. Very upsetting to see you not appreciating this @SCoRMembers

(And the idea that barring partners from antenatal scans will protect pregnant mothers, which the article suggests, make no sense – women generally LIVE with their partners.) 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️
