BREAKING: @Pokemon may be preparing to abandon turn-based battles after 30 years 🤯
For 30 years, turn-based combat was one of the defining rules of every mainline Pokémon game.
Then Pokémon Legends: Z-A became the first to replace it with real-time battles.
Now Pokémon Champions director Kazumasa Iwao says the traditional system may “gradually start changing” as the series moves forward.
Game Freak had a big problem.
Some players have spent decades mastering these battles, going all the way back to Red/Green and Gold/Silver. The studio did not want to eventually tell them that the rules had changed and they simply had to move on.
So it separated the classic battle system from the main series.
Champions was created as one permanent game where traditional Pokémon battles can continue indefinitely. It has already become the official software for competitive Pokémon going forward, regardless of which mainline game comes next.
This does not confirm that Winds and Waves will abandon turn-based combat. But Game Freak has now given itself the freedom to do exactly that without destroying the system it would leave behind.
I am an OG Pokémon maxi and I have a hard time feeling that Pokémon would still feel like Pokémon without turns. But I do understand that things have to move on, eventually 😭
BREAKING: Pokémon has officially lost control of its biggest set of the decade.
The 30th Anniversary set does not release until September 16. However, people have already been opening it for weeks and selling the cards/flexing sealed products online.
Now eBay is deleting listings under its Stolen Property Policy after TPCi confirmed that no 30th Anniversary product has been distributed through authorized channels.
Translation: if you already own one, Pokémon would also love to know how.
Team Rocket has apparently moved into Pokémon distribution 😂
Congrats to everyone who hated on me for this post about Storm Emeralda Rayquaza.
And yes, it is going lower. Way lower.
RATING: Mega Rayquaza ex SAR = 3.7/10
This was supposed to be the card.
First Mega Rayquaza in a modern era set.
This is a Pokémon with one of the strongest legacies in the hobby (Gold Star, Emerald Break, Blue Sky Stream).
They had SO MUCH to work with, from
Sky Pillar to the Delta Episode to Groudon vs Kyogre and even Deoxys.
Instead, we get Rayquaza lost inside a green-and-gold VFX overload that just feels like an AI-generated card.
Yes, it looks expensive but imo it does not have the personality to become a memorable card.
Big let down.

New series: I’m rating Pokémon cards from 0 to 10 based purely on my own taste (not price, rarity, hype or what the market tells me to like). The ratings will be harsh, subjective and probably controversial. You’re allowed to disagree ofc. In fact, I’m counting on it.
Extremely proud to have contributed to bringing $TAO to @base via @chainlink CCIP.
This took heavy coordination across the team - a lot of back and forth, strategizing and preparation to make this a banger announcement.
Many of you follow me for my Pokémon content but my inner circle knows I’m a crypto nerd who loves building meaningful stuff in this space.
I’ve always been a believer in $TAO and today I left my mark on the ecosystem forever.
And speaking of forever, congrats on pulling this off @forevermoney_ai ⛓️💥🟦
The Bittensor ecosystem arrived on @Base!
Base brings millions of users, deep DeFi and trading infrastructure and the most intuitive onchain experience in crypto.
Bittensor brings a decentralized AI infrastructure across compute, coding, vision, and prediction.
Chainlink CCIP, the cross-chain bridge that secures billions in value, connects them both.
The onchain AI era starts here 🟦
Imagine selling someone a sealed collectible and slapping the shipping label directly onto it.
Not even a freaking box or a bubble mailer.
A USPS carrier found this in his hamper and was so shocked that he shared it online.
Anyone passing the buyer’s porch would know exactly what was sitting there.
He even knocked on the door (respect) because he felt terrible delivering it like this. Nobody answered so he added an arrived damaged sticker and had no choice but to leave it.
Someone paid real money for this. Maybe they wanted to keep it sealed, could even be a gift. The seller clearly didn’t give a shit either way.
Whoever shipped this should be ashamed. If you have this little respect for collectors and their money, get the fuck out of the hobby.
Ancient Mew has been hiding one of the darkest sentences ever printed on a Pokémon card.
Most of us saw the strange writing on this card and assumed it was decorative gibberis
The card uses Germanic runes as a cipher while the four glyphs surrounding Mew represent Birth, Death, Enthronement and Right of Succession.
In 1999, CoroCoro published the decoding key. Once translated, the card identifies Mew as a “New Species” before leaving one unsettling final line:
“Little God… or Evil?”
This isn’t a fan theory, Pokémon gave fans the cipher themselves.
Ancient Mew was never meant to be unreadable.
Brilliant concept by @brycekhodraws.
Took me a minute to find the celebi.
The PSA 1 on the right is a better Pokémon card than the PSA 10 on the left.
I genuinely believe that.
Pokémon cards were made to be opened by children, carried to school, traded at lunch and battled on the floor.
I am in my thirties now and some of my best childhood memories only exist because I did not preserve my cards but played with them as much as I could.
The PSA 10 was protected from all of that. The PSA 1 has creases, fucked up corners and scars from a life actually lived.
One version preserved a cardboard. The other one preserved a childhood.
So I ask you, which one truly lived?
