The irony is stark: the confrontation began because the client was excited to meet Karimi since she had been writing a novel about Afghan and Jewish boys who come to America and later serve together in the U.S. Army. This should be a wake-up call for Jewish-Americans who fantasize about friendship with people from countries or communities that harbor hostility toward America and Israel and who are now even actively voting them into public office.
