‘JOKER’: ‘FOLIE À DEUX’ is officially announced with Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga both confirmed to star.
The film releases on October 4, 2024.
Stories and characters should not be limited by how you were born. And at the same time, more minority voices should be heard. Can we work toward diversity without tearing down or canceling the work of others?
The Academy chooses based on skill of performance in a given field. That's the end of it.
Diversity is great. Keep opportunities coming for more types of filmmakers. But don't force the awards to choose based on race or gender. Skill should remain the determining factor.
My thought after watching Once Upon A Time in Hollywood... Can Tarantino write/direct a sequel for Margot Robbie's Sharon Tate, with the guys in a disposable subplot, like she had this time around? :P
Thought exercise: Who is the final girl that best defines that film trope to you? And what kind of person do you think she would be beyond surviving her horror film(s)? Or would she be defined by that aspect alone?
I've seen Midsommar. I did not take the film to be misandrist. Nor an indictment of heterosexual relationships. I think those that do see that into it, are missing the point. Is this a bad take? :P
The upcoming 2020 horror movies that I'm most interested to see, as of now, are The Rental and Last Night in Soho.
If your interest in film is any more than just casual, you should always be looking for movies you haven't seen. whether decades old or more recent, but overlooked by the majority. The world needs more film fans and their viewpoints.
Rob Zombie's Halloween2 made his cut. Very cool!

Movie awards are about honoring the best of a given year. There are always going to be films that don't get a nomination.
There is a distinction to be made between having the opportunity to make films, and to be nominated as the best of the year.
Found a book of essays on Ginger Snaps (that I need to buy now) which includes a "Further Viewing" list. And thus two films to hunt down: 'The Boys Club' and 'Sister My Sister'.
