Some brief thoughts on ways to improve the Magic Arena Powered Cube. Obviously, the next time the Cube returns, it'll likely be sometime in 2026, so we'll have some new sets, and I can only speak to cards we know about right now. Also, these are just my thoughts and opinions.
Okay but statistically there has to be at least one person who lost their job to automation, was told to "learn to code", actually learned to code, then lost the coding job to AI

My current main gripe about #MTGTarkir is that it's clear that the "one Planeswalker per set" restriction continues to be a colossal blunder for the game. The story's main characters are Ajani and Elspeth, but Ugin having a card has made it so they can't be in the set. Disaster.

Now that we're a little deeper into spoiler season, I wanted to do a more detailed thread about how I, personally, feel that #MTGAetherdrift is a failure at a cool concept: A multiversal race where the prize is a Planeswalker spark. I'm going to break it down as best as I can. 🧵
Alright, it's time for me to grouse. #MTGAetherdrift is this year's crossover set. Why the heck isn't this just Depala, the existing Boros character (from Avishkar!) who cares about Vehicles? Why are almost all of the legends just new shmucks instead of characters we know?

Today is about rarity shifts! As an all-reprint set, Pioneer Masters doesn't have a lot of tools for development. The cards can't be changed, they can only be swapped, and it's even harder when most of the cards in the set have to come from a specific time period. #wotcstaff🧵

See the issue is that it implies certain playstyles and goals are mutually exclusive
I propose we break down the main Goals/experiences people want out of their games and use that for mixing and matching
