Incredible reporting from the NYT.
The woman at Cornell did not consider herself a rape victim until she saw people making fun of her for being a slut.
She went to her "big sister" in her sorority and confessed that she had been a slut. Then while texting one of the men she reassured him that she enjoyed the first part of it and nothing illegal had happened.
Later, she texted him that she was traumatized. Not by the sex, but because everyone was laughing at her.
One week after her "rape," she was mad that she got disinvited from a party at the frathouse of her "rapists"!!!!!!!
Only a few days later, she decided that she was a "rape victim." Nobody would laugh at her anymore! She went from an object of ridicule and shame to a hero.
Once again, we need to have a serious conversation about how women are being lied to.
People do not respect sluts. Even at woke Ivy League universities. Human nature is what it is.
The lesson is women should protect their reputations by not doing things like this.

Wanting to know what Ed Sheeran thinks of the West Bank is ridiculous. It makes no difference. What next? Demanding Leona Lewis’s view of Pip cuts? Boycotting Maroon 5 until they make clear their stance on the environmental impact of HS2? We’ve lost our collective minds.

Never forget that in New York they eliminated the literacy exam in 2017. And this exam wasn't for students - it was the literacy exam for TEACHERS. Only 61% could pass it!

I’m glad Nikole Hannah-Jones wrote that essay. I went in thinking I’d roll my eyes, but came out feeling a great deal of empathy and also pain. I went through NYC public schools from K-12. My high school (James Madison HS) had airport-style scanning machines for us to go through every morning. The school boasts such alumni as Bernie Sanders, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Judge Judy, and Chuck Schumer. What happened to NYC public schooling from then to now? The answer is that we, the students, did not fail. We were failed.

I have some thoughts!
Nikole Hannah-Jones interviewed me at the height of woke-1 to champion and virtue signal her “fight for every black child” and disparage and dismiss my fight for all NYC public school students to enjoy the rising tide that lifts all boats of academic rigor and meritocracy.
She thought my support of the Specialized High School Admission Exam, the SHSAT, was racist. I thought her school politics were deeply misguided, and well, quite racist.
Unlike Hannah-Jones I have nothing to walk back.
I knew then what she has just figured out that her identitarian race-based grievance project would not fix anything. And in fact, it has hurt all public school students. Not just in NYC—her Magnum Opus of racial grievance, The 1619 Project, is taught in schools across the country and its reasoning is used to dismantle and stop the creation of the kind of high school that her daughter ultimately chose—the one that finally taught her algebra.
NYC Public School students score lower on all academic metrics now than they did when her daughter started school—and we tax payers pay more for it. Enrollment continues to plummet while those in charge dumb down standards and hide results. So much of that is because any solution that challenged Hannah-Jones' race-baiting—endorsed by The Times and Democratic leaders alike—was verboten.
Like Hannah-Jones I have a HS junior. My two older kids have graduated from NYCPS and are in college and my youngest is in NYCPS elementary school. I have qualms with parts of their education but also many success stories. Can you get a great education in NYCPS? Yes. But you have to fight for it. And insisting on the schools that grade math homework is a start.
Knowing what your child is learning and mastering is a non-negotiable. Standardized tests help with that, but are a starting point only. Blaming phantom racists instead of understanding the role parents play was and is a lazy cop out.
There is still an effort–alive and well right now-to dismantle great schools like NYC’s specialized high schools because they use standardized admissions tests. The effort still relies on the same failed logic that Hannah-Jones has peddled for years. She insisted that kids like her daughter who did not score high enough on a test to gain admission were the victims of racism. But she refused to acknowledge that poor Asian kids whose parents had NONE of the resources that her daughter enjoyed (or should have enjoyed) (English speaking parents, resources to pay for prep classes, knowledge of how the system works, etc) were not racist oppressors—but kids willing to work hard and apply their smarts with parents that prioritized subject mastery and took the time to make sure their kids were actually learning.
Her daughter is right. She deserved much better. But it is not the cauldron of racist grievances that Hannah-Jones still cannot let go of that failed her daughter. It’s her daughter’s parents that did not figure out for NINE YEARS that their daughter was not learning enough.
New York City Public Schools should be among the best in the world because we have so many incredibly talented, smart and hard-working students that could and should learn more by being challenged more–and that means sorting kids into cohorts where they can rise to the level of their abilities and willingness to work. In other words “screening”—the exact project Hannah-Jones fought against for so long and which she has now relied on to rescue her daughter’s education.
You’re welcome Nikole. Your daughter’s chosen high school would not exist but for parents like me who fought so hard to keep screened schools.

Perhaps we can make this photo go viral again. This is Officer Chris Amoroso of the NYNJ Port Authority Police. This photo is from September 11, 2001, with the towers behind him. After saving this pregnant woman Chris decided to go back in for his 5th time. Despite having a wife and baby at home, despite being only 29 years old, Chris and 59 other Police Officers and 343 Firefighters never made it back out. You can curse us out, spit, defund and disrespect us, but when you call we will be there. Thats what makes us different. Im not looking for responses especially political ones. Just remember Chris and share his story. No sports number on his chest, no large contract no anthem to kneel to, just a real hero. #NeverForget

wtf…the acronym changed again? Can we pick one and stick with it? Or we going to allow every single neurotic add their own letter?
Nobody can reason with trans activists. If you disagree with any of their positions, no matter how insignificant you get one or a combination of these responses:
1. You hate trans people or you’re a transphobe/bigot.
2. You want trans people erased from society.
3. You are literally killing trans people with your views and have blood on your hands.
So then all armed fighters are being picked off…but killing armed fighters is not a genocide, it’s a sign you have a shitty army that doesn’t know when to surrender.

The more I think of it, the more I think Tim Horton’s Harry Potter collaboration is a stroke of genius on two fronts. First, the line ups are no shorter than before. Second, they’re problematic woke employees that cause so much shit either quit or have to suck it up. Beautiful.
Hey @adl and @splcenter, you going to add Ruffalo to you list of hate groups/racists? He had no reason to invoke Israel, only connection is that the leaders behind the merger are Jewish. This is rank anti-semitism.
The accusation that I am antisemitic is appalling and fundamentally dishonest. Criticizing the actions of the Israeli prime minister, a military technology contract, or the executives who supply it is not the same as criticizing Jewish people. This critical and necessary dialogue is then dishonestly framed as being anti-Israel. To be clear, my views come from my own political convictions and should never be interpreted as hostility toward Jewish people, for whom I have deep love and respect. Everything I know about acting, activism, and humanism has been profoundly shaped by the Jewish friends, colleagues, and loved ones who have been integral and family throughout every point of my life.
This merger has real consequences for real people, and for the entire country. Scrutinizing the Ellisons, including Oracle’s business built on data, surveillance technology and government contracts, and the serious threat to editorial freedom and the loss of a livelihood for thousands of families, is fair and necessary. The $111 billion deal would hand one family control over CNN, HBO and Warner Bros., backed in part by foreign money whose influence on editorial decisions has never been fully explained to the public.
Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have called for serious national security review, and regulators still haven’t given the public a real answer. Until they do, the merger shouldn’t move forward. Now is the time to dive boldly into all these issues, not step back or concede.
