Change is often a slow process. We try to rush it, and we crash and burn. Not this time. I have lost over 90 lbs, but it has taken over 30 months. Not even 1 pound per week. Yet I persist. When the scale hit 300 lbs, the highest ever for me after decades of bouncing between 240 and 270, I decided it was time to do something about it. I had recently switched jobs, and my new employer offered Virta, a keto diet program for treating diabetes and obesity. I signed up, and it kickstarted my weight loss. It has a meaningful support group and a goal-setting process that helps you keep sight of the "why" behind losing weight. The program was great for me for the first 2 years, but I noticed my blood sugar levels going up, and I still wasn't happy with my body. I asked myself, what if I tried exercising again? I found a bodyweight program, The Pump by @Schwarzenegger, which was a great intro to fitness, and most importantly, I could do it at home. Low risk. What did I have to lose? After 8 months of home workouts, I switched to the gym and continued with The Pump. I found the routines were too high-rep lower weight and not a great match for me, so I started looking for something that fit my style better: fewer reps with heavier weight and longer rest periods. I had stalled out and needed to figure out how to get over the hurdle. This is what led me to a personal trainer. Thanks to @smithhmackenzie for helping me build a functional strength training routine with a fellow trainer of hers. I also switched to a performance-based, balanced diet that isn't restrictive (beyond calories) and all food I enjoy eating. For the past 4–5 months, I have really focused on my diet, my exercise routine, and my personal goals. This is whole-life training, and it has made a big difference. I keep hitting new personal records, losing weight, and building muscle. Yes, I could probably go faster, but there's really no need to. Going slower lets my body get comfortable where it is, so I don't spring back. It also helps me keep as much muscle as possible, since I lost a lot during the initial weight loss. The work has paid off. For the first time in my life, I am happy with my body and looking forward to growing every day. Yes, I have plenty to work on, but I finally feel like I have the tools to do it, which I never had before. Don't beat yourself up, and keep pushing forward even when you slip. There is no easy path through this, but with the right skills and help, you can make it an enjoyable journey, and you won't be the same person on the other side. Life is a journey, not a destination.

Another day, another gym day... :) Also, incline treadmill walk, heart rate last Dec vs today. Down about 30 bpm. Different logging devices, but still a trend. If If I look at the Garmin this July it was also way down from last Dec, like 120 bpm.

Sunset tonight was magical. The camera of course over saturates it, but whatever :)

I promised some pictures of the Kia EV6 Yacht Blue in the sun, not great photos, but at least it is a sunny day.

Insurance adjuster says repairable, double checking with the local Chevy body shop and go from there.
Here is the A pillar damage. 😬

Gridlock! Issues with self driving still need some polishing. I do think at some point the remote human operators will be replaced by remote AI operators and eventually no remote assistance. We aren't there yet today.
Austin, TX (OCT.17.2026)- CyberCab blocks a very popular route for Tesla Robotaxis. BTW, those bicycle taxis are absolutely Trucking. #SunsetProject

Does the seat bottom fan on the Rivian R2 make a ton of noise too? I was trying to figure out what it was and finally tied it to the seat ventilation. I am guessing with a VIN of 11135 I don't have the back fan. They are loud fans though. Sounds like someone turned a vacuum on.

Another great day for the gym! Cold AF this morning (not really, but winter is coming). As you can see by my winter tires I installed this weekend. I accidentally used an incline bench with the 15 kg bar instead of normal 20 kg. Those feel so weird, then I have to add weight too

We have already had our R2 unit for a month! How time flies. Almost 1800 miles.

Interesting how this started with Silverado ahead, but as it widened audience with more views it quickly changed to Tesla. Thinking about it more, I will get something cheap that can be paid in full with Blazer EV money, like maybe a used Ioniq 6 that has good range and fast charging just to drive a couple years until I get what I want when available.
If the Blazer EV is totalled, my son can use EV6 and I should buy which EV? Comment for something else

Clean car time. I have reverted to hand washing as the car washes are too expensive these days. R2 in Catalina Cove looks glorious in the sun. Same is true with the EV6 in Yacht Blue. Not that any of these pictures are in the sun ;)

Haven't updated my EV6 software in 3.5 years 💀💀 I forgot how much of a PITA it is. 64 GB USB (buy a fast one), Laptop, Download 30GB file, copy to USB, stick in car, update, takes like 3-4 hours start to finish. Rivian: it tells me it has an update and I say install it. Helpful release notes in the Kia as well...

EVs are crazy, almost no brake wear in 70,000 miles. These tires are unreal too, 70,000 miles between both (winters and no season tires). The no season tires are not to wear bars yet and perfectly worn (replacing next season). This EV6 is great for maintenance.

You can get a 2024 Toyota Mirai for less than $10,000. This is an 80% depreciation in 3 years. 💀💀

Cottonwood trees are the worst possible trees. Such a nuisance. My son just texted me these. Poor Blazer EV... Nothing too serious, but still annoying

Here is Claude's estimate. KBB Private party is about $25,000. In Iowa this would be totaled over about $17,500 in damage if that is value they use (they use their own data I am sure). Let's see what they come back with. Either way it will cost me $1,000. I just paid it off, too
