Critique's entire purpose is to assess how a piece accomplishes or can better accomplish its intentions. Even the most obvious improvement is still gonna have some level of subjectivity to it because intent itself is subjective.

This is also why critique that actually understands the creator's intent is always going to be more useful than one that only thinks it does, or one that tries to hold it to some objective standard.

Tryin out the Crows playtest (the new TTRPG by Matt Colville's team) I think I'm still kinda trying to find my stride with it. It might also be that I'm just more partial to games that focus more on character building and tactics as opposed to character generation and discovery.
