Reports suggest heat pump grants could be cut to fund defence. Why weaken a route away from gas and oil? What about homeowners, installers and UK manufacturing? Should grants stay, shrink or be better targeted? My take in the new video 👇 youtu.be/r05k5ZwrTZk

Me again. This time, like some sort of investigative journalist. 😆
Could electricity tariffs eventually be priced by device? The newer Intelligent @OctopusEnergy Go API now separates home & EV rates with new & different endpoints. Could it point towards EV, heat pump, battery & home all having different prices? youtu.be/LLmKa1V9rvI

Might be one fo you @sarah_go_green and other folks on Gas Boilers looking to potentially save some money on your bills. 👍
New video looking at a really simple question: Does turning your boiler flow temperature down actually save money? I explain what flow and return temperatures are and why it's the temperature of the water coming back to the boiler that matters. youtu.be/pegUvCXapU8

Heat pump vs oil boiler. Same house. Same 12,000 kWh of useful heat. Oil at 85% efficiency. Gas at 85%. Heat pumps at COP 3.0, 3.5 and 4. One of the results is much closer than you might expect.

I changed 9 radiators when my heat pump went in. It helped me get down to lower flow temperatures and my 2025 heating COP was 4.2. But would I change all nine again? Probably not. There's a cost to chasing the difference between a good COP and a really good one.

I love pouring over the data for deep dives like this. 😍
I changed nine radiators when my heat pump went in. Looking back, I’m not sure I needed to. Using my 2025 data, dropping from COP 4.2 to 3.5 would only add about £87/year. That changes how you think about bigger radiators, upfront cost and chasing COP. youtu.be/KfBJ3zOb0w0

Another opportunity for those working on roofs or working towards that to safely learn alongside those who already do it! We also have people coming on projects to gain further confidence with some amazing feedback. The aim is to see other providers change course and be inspired towards our methods. Its working and I love that. Get booked on at the only training provider in the UK doing things like this. Community and collaboration from installers, manufacturers and trainers. a121.co.uk/courses.php

My average electricity import rate across the year was under 10p/kWh. Not because of one tariff. IOG + battery + solar + Predbat + Havenwise + behaviour. The number I care about is what the whole setup actually delivered: the blended rate. youtu.be/IgHXFsKqrHM

Ten years ago, electricity cost me more than 5× as much per kWh as gas. That relationship has changed. And once you stop comparing raw fuel prices and compare the cost of useful heat instead, the picture changes again. Full video on YouTube. youtu.be/hS9kq21VKcM

I found my EDF bill from April 2016. Gas: 1.99p/kWh. Today we're heading towards 8p. That change is a big part of why the old assumption that gas must always be cheaper for heating doesn't necessarily hold anymore.
