How's this for an isolated storm! In the last 24 hours the southside of Lexington, intersection of Man O War and Nicholasville Rd, has had 2.4" of rain (1.9" since midnight), while most of the rest of the area has seen basically nothing. #kywx

Idle Hour CC, 1924 Donald Ross, Lexington, KY IHCC is a classic parkland Ross located on the outskirts of downtown Lexington. The property is fairly large in scale, and the current routing takes you out and back on both 9’s with plenty of criss crossing of holes. In the early 2000’s Ron Prichard came in and from what I was told “brought the Ross back”. The bunkering throughout may be some of the best Ross bunkering I’ve ever seen. Just spectacular. The fairways are pretty generous in landing zones but get a little wayward, and you may find yourself in one of the bunkers with an extremely steep grass wall staring you in the face. The greens are what you’d expect - elevated complexes, but not overly undulated which was nice to see. There was just the right amount of slope and they rolled really well. The mix of par 4’s gave plenty of variety - left to right, straight, right to left, up and down, and everything in between. The short, uphill 5th hole was a classic being well guarded on both sides by bunkers making the tee shot one of the more difficult ones on the course. The par 3 second hole offered a double green which Ross was sometimes known for doing. Was really cool to see. @IHCCGreenkeeper has the course in spectacular condition which I knew would be the case. Keep up the great work and doing what you do! He’s one of the best there is. Thank you @pgagarvey and @mhead15 for your hospitality. Idle Hour is one of those “sleepy little clubs” you don’t hear much about and I think they like it that way. But the Southern Am was just held there this summer and I can see why. Just a fabulous place. Don’t let this one fly under your radars. It worth the trip if you get the chance.

Great day at IHCC. Thank you @JaredDilbone for pulling cores on fairways while our crew performs clean up behind. Soil spray this A.M in front of a dry cut on greens this afternoon for the first time post deeptine and core. Seeding to come!

Utilizing our old @TheToroCompany greens mowers for our first couple cuts to keep our new @JohnDeere reels and knifes fresh and sharp!

Wait until this place gets the renovation it’s owed. @GreenGCA will have this place second to none @IHCCGreenkeeper
Was very fortunate to be at Idle Hour CC for their awesome member-guest these last three days. Didn’t take a lot of photos because I just wanted to enjoy the rounds and the people. But here’s three “simple” things (aside from A+ conditioning @IHCCGreenkeeper) that help make Idle Hour an exceptional (Donald Ross) course: Short 🧵

I think one would be lying to themselves in this industry if they said the PGA/LIV saga hadn’t affected the way they looked at professional golf. Growing up in KY we absorb all of our golf through TV on Saturdays and Sundays and it was amazing. Cont> – at Kentucky, USA

Today, it seems not to be even close to the product was 3/4 years ago and that’s depressing for the game. So many Americans are open to the game more now than ever after the pandemic and our professional system is at war. It’s a shame for the average golfer. – at Kentucky, USA

Cal is BY far the best salesman there has been. My man could sell Italian cheese to an authentic Italian.. it’s all great until 56 coaches win more Tournament games than you since the COVID season. He’s been an ambassador but his time is over. #No1BetterThanTheProgram #woopig – at Kentucky, USA
