I spent the last week making a boss track (and video) for a game that exists in my head.

Just want to weigh in on this because itās important to treat this as a layered situation.
I think thereās a big difference between coaching because you havenāt been able to accomplish your financial goals vs. coaching in order to leverage your expertise and serve others.
But thereās also genuine educators out there who have credentials and enjoy teaching and challenging composers that I think are entitled to create a business around those intersecting passions.
Proud to be part of the @RippaverseWiki team!! š

Thanks for always taking chances with me @VenTravis! And for the composers - stop trying to "find work". Go make some friends who love what you love. Work will come naturally and be so much more fulfilling alongside your friendsš„
2024 is off to a pretty amazing start.
I had the privilege of co-composing a boss track with @HanxiuZhang for NetEase Games' Fantasy Westward Journey, featuring LIVE ORCHESTRA and choir! š»š»

Here are a few things to do to NOT make it as a music composer.
- Stay up late at night, even when waking up early because you think the longer the work, the more you get done
- Eat lots of snacks while working because carbs and glucose are pure fuel for your body and don't result in crashes
- Invite everyone directly to your Facebook page because numbers are important, even more important than saying hi or introducing yourself
- send out your demo track and mention "that you only had three hours to write it because you had to leave for that party night"
- send out as much music as possible. It is very important to overwhelm people and why shouldn't video game companies enjoy your latest synth-melodyne-granular-test
- don't structure your work, work on everything that comes across your mind. It's ok to have 100s of unfinished tracks on your shelf eating dust
- the more aggressive and directly you introduce yourself and offer your services the more gigs you will get
- the more coffee you drink, the longer you will be active and energized and if you train it long enough it also won't mess up your sleep patterns anymore.
- social media is for mediocre influencers that don't understand music theory and try to fake their way through life. So the best is to go with that prejudice and bash them as much as possible
- believe in pros telling you that writing looooots of music is the best and then everything will fall into place sooner or later by itself.
- never sign working contracts because you talked to that guy and "had this great and exciting feeling of a unique collab"
- keep telling yourself that other composers making it in the industry were just lucky
