I never spanked my kids and removed punishment over 20 years ago. I treated them how I would want to be treated by a loving, strong, patient, stable, compassionate man. According to half the internet, my kids should be spoiled, disrespectful, reckless, and fucking disasters by now. But we have a small problem. They're mature, empathetic, responsible adults who think critically and have self-control. Turns out "beat their ass or they'll become monsters" wasn't the sophisticated parenting philosophy people thought it was.

True Story. A part of my life when I thought social media was gay.
Crawling through tunnels in a crusader castle on the island of Rhodes with the boys.

I’m not one to ever ask for help, but I believe deeply in the power of prayer. Tomorrow I’m being sentenced in the organic baby formula case I’ve been fighting for the last five years. I ask that you say a prayer for me and, more importantly, for my family..

If your child could leave... If they could support themselves... If they were your size... If they could defend themselves... Would you still speak to them the same way? Threaten them the same way? Treat their disagreement the same way? If not, what exactly is restraining you with adults that isn't restraining you with your child?

Corporal punishment was not used in my home, at 16 & 13, my children have done well for themselves. The justification that physical correction is needed is wrong. I am not the exception here.
If your child is old enough to understand reason, use reason. If they're too young to understand reason, explain why hitting someone incapable of understanding your explanation makes more sense.

"Do the hard shit first." My son is taking college classes and asked if I thought he should put the core classes at the front or back end of his program. I said, "Do the hard shit first, then it's done, and you can do whatever you want after..." This goes for everything.

I've been off this platform so long it took me a moment to find where DM's went. Then I found 'Requests' Then 'Other' Do not click on 'Other'

I caught myself trying to negotiate against myself today. I had a parent of two athletes ask me about game coverage; I almost told her I'd offer a discounted rate since she was booking two athletes, whereas most only book one at a time. I didn't. I told her my price, and she happily paid 5 min later. I almost offered a 30% discount for no other reason than I felt bad a parent was paying double what most pay. Lesson in there: Get the feelings out of the business, and charge what you're worth. Do not negotiate against yourself.

Since I wrote the tweet about not knowing what to write on here, I've been reading more and now writing more. An observation from a few days on here after a year+ off: Some of my mutuals have grown, and their topics have evolved to new areas of interest, family growth, businesses created, etc. And some are writing about the exact same thing they were writing about when I was active. I'm not saying similar or close to the same topic, but the exact same subject, angle, gripes, etc. It's interesting to see those who stayed in their spot and those who forged into new territories.

My daughter walks out of her room at least once a week looking like…not my daughter. She has always been into makeup, and we’ve always supported her passion and creativity with it. Jackie is a licensed cosmetologist; this evolution with our little lady just made sense… When she started doing SFX makeup, we rolled with it. One day she was an Avatar, another day 1/4 her face was one thing and the rest another… Then there was the day she looked like she’d been in a fight with Rocky, and that was the day I asked if I could take her photo... Now, whenever she comes out as whatever she went with that day, we grab a picture. This makeup was inspired by "The Flare Virus" from Maze Runner.

I was booked to cover a young flag-football athlete; even at the 10u level, the difference between the boys and girls is clear. What stood out was this little athlete; one of the smallest on the field, yet she never stopped chasing and getting into the mix with the boys and bigger kids. Some kids are born with an "attack" mindset, and if properly parented, they'll have an advantage in all they do their entire life.

My current 180° I started this Saturday watching the sunrise, drinking coffee, and listening to the world wake up. Weekends aren’t meant to be 48 hours of extra sleep & gluttony.

You know what’s wild? I once made my living posting online; legit running a 6 figure business 100% online… Now, I don’t even know what to say when I get in here when I do. I have a ton of insights, awareness, ideas, and thoughts but I don’t have the desire whatsoever to share a word or talk online… What is that?

Watched the Odyssey with my son and daughter, IMAX. It was a good movie, the “woke” takes are unfounded.

It's crazy to see @Cobratate & @TateTheTalisman arrested with people cheering over it, while known criminals and pedophiles hold public positions, yet people look away. Everything comes down to money and marketing.

The hardest part of changing your parenting isn't learning new techniques. It's grieving your childhood. It's admitting that the people you love, the people who sacrificed for you, the people you still respect, also hurt you in ways that shaped your life. That's an unbearable thought for many people. So they defend the physically and emotionally abusive parenting instead because accepting the truth means grieving the childhood that hurt, pain, and loss.

Not merely “ok”. Anyone who doesn’t love America is a traitor and beneath contempt. Those who don’t love America, those who are disloyal should be exiled immediately.
