PSA for my Charlotte friends: try to avoid parking your cars under sloped roofs this weekend. On Monday there could potentially be sheets of ice the size and shape of said roof that all slide off at once when they start to melt. Take this from a professional midwesterner 👍🏼🧊 – at Concord, NC
This race was also lost by the 4T call of the 11. They had the opp to copy whatever the 5 did with their pit road position in stall 1. Why give the 5 track position when you have the faster car on an equal playing field? The 11 was ~10 away when the 5 left his box. ♟️ – at Concord, NC
Cliff Daniels credited the two tire calls that won Kyle Larson the championship to a group of engineers at his disposal who he said pushed him to do something different. Prior to the first two-tire call, Daniels said he had wanted to call for a four tire stop, but
"That wasn't gonna be enough. And those guys are like, 'hey man, just think about doing something different here.'"
Kyle Larson himself said he didn't think the first two-tire call was the right one, but he felt like if they got another caution that two tires would be a "no-brainer" and was waiting for Daniels to make the call.
"When the caution came out, I named off the code words and I was like 'c'mon, say it!' He did, and I'm like 'Alright, cool. We've got a shot here.'"
