I was pleased to welcome Members of the @Europarl_EN in Azraq camp yesterday.
As they put it: “It’s one thing to read reports & quite another to see with one’s own eyes.”
From this visit, one message stood out: refugees need the space and support to make their own decisions.
Today in #ZaatariCamp, the🇩🇪 @GermanyAmman Ambassador met with refugees and heard firsthand about their challenges and hopes for the future. 🤝
With Germany’s support, UNHCR continues to provide vital protection and assistance despite funding gaps. 💙

In Za’atari and Azraq camps, UNICEF provides safe water and sanitation services to more than 82,000 refugees, including over 46,000 children.
Yet the funding needed to keep these essential services running remains largely unsecured. This comes as Jordan faces some of the world’s most severe water scarcity — making every drop, and every investment in water security, critical. Beyond the Syrian refugee camps, UNICEF is also working to address Jordan’s wider water challenges.
Through our partnership under the Water Scarcity Initiative (WSI), we are working with partners to better understand water scarcity and strengthen climate-resilient water and sanitation systems, with the goal of supporting vulnerable populations to have more reliable access.
