The absolute foundation of the Roman Catholic hierarchy is the rigid separation between the Clergy (the elite spiritual ruling class) and the Laity (the passive, dependent recipients of grace). You are taught that without an ordained priest to hear your confession, consecrate your bread, and perform your final rites, you have no legitimate, secure connection to God. The Apostle Peter, the very man Rome claims as her structural champion explicitly shatters this artificial divide by declaring that every true Christian is an instantly ordained, fully functional priest of the Living God. "Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ... But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation..." (1 Peter 2:5, 9) In the Old Testament, God utilized a temporary, localized Levitical priesthood to demonstrate His holiness. Common people were strictly forbidden from approaching the tabernacle directly; they needed a mediator from the tribe of Levi to offer their animal sacrifices When Jesus died on the cross, the massive, three-inch-thick veil of the temple was violently ripped in half from top to bottom (Matthew 27:51). This was God's dramatic, cosmic declaration that the old earthly priesthood was permanently closed. The caste system was entirely flattened. To retain its hold over your mind, Rome requires you to stop at the counter of human intermediaries. But the standard of Scripture offers you direct, unhindered access to the absolute highest court of heaven: "Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us..." (Hebrews 10:19-20) You do not need to wait in a confessional line to speak to a fallible sinful man in a box. You do not need to plead with dead saints or a "heavenly mother" to run interference for your sins. You possess boldness (παρρησίαν - parrhēsian: absolute freedom of speech, confidence, and unreserved access) to walk directly into the Holiest Place of all, based exclusively on the finished blood of Jesus Christ.

The Roman Catholic system conditions its adherents to view prayer as a transactional, mechanical exercise. It relies on the repetition of pre-written formulas (The Rosary, Novenas, Act of Contrition) and requires the intervention of dead saints or Mary to act as a defensive buffer between the sinner and a supposedly distant, angry God. Jesus Christ completely abolished this distant, mechanical approach, giving you direct, unhindered access to the throne room of heaven. Be not ye therefore like unto them..." (Matthew 6:7-8) God is a loving Father, not a pagan deity or a spiritual vending machine that is activated by the number of times you repeat a string of words. Counting identical prayers on a chain of beads is the exact definition of "vain repetition." True prayer is not a dynamic performance; it is an intelligent, honest, and heartfelt conversation between a child and their Father. When Jesus taught His disciples how to pray, He bypassed every potential human or angelic intermediary: "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name." (Matthew 6:9) Observe the immediate destination: "Our Father." You do not pray to a saint to ask them to talk to Mary, so Mary can talk to Jesus, so Jesus can placate the Father. The Bible commands you to completely abandon the false humility that claims you are too unworthy to approach God directly: "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." (Hebrews 4:16) Your worthiness to speak to God does not depend on your personal goodness, your performance of penance, or the merits of Mary. Your worthiness depends entirely on the perfect, unblemished righteousness of Jesus Christ, who lives to make intercession for you (Hebrews 7:25). To use another mediator is to say that Christ’s invitation to "come boldly" is a lie.

The early church did NOT teach Peter was the pope. Even Catholic historians admit: The title "pope" was not applied to the bishop of Rome until centuries later. Early bishops of Rome were not considered supreme by the global church. This is error. Peter was never bishop of Rome. The Catholic Encyclopedia admits: "There is no proof that Peter founded the Church in Rome." Paul wrote the book of Romans and he never mentions Peter. If Peter was its bishop, Paul would not surely ignore him.
